Wow. Guys. Saltiness is plenty fine. I need my steak tender. But lets tone down on the bitterness, my candy's gonna taste terrible. From what I can see, game lord thinks images aren't necessary for a suggestion to be amazing, although he still acknowledges how helpful they are.
Nuff said. There's no argument here, just statements of opinion. Speaking of which, I personally believe that a lot of the time images aren't that great. But because they done always FIT. In one's like Cerroz's ancient zombie, they're incredible to have. So two different people were equally confused by your statement and intentions, and WE, not you, are at fault for your increasingly-obvious inability to communicate.
Instead of continuing. I'd like to hear quotes from OP or confirmation from theriasis, zippy, or other primary contributors of this thread, that they believe or endorse that images are vital and required to be part of their personal hall-of-fame. This is a supplemental discussion; but perhaps it should've been the primary discussion the entire time.
Their words should be spoken from their mouths, alone. Let them attest to their intentions of the post. If they did indeed mean that images are vital/required to the success of a suggestion and their induction into a hall-of-fame; then I will retract my statements.
"The thread MUST contain some awesome custom content. Good looking images are a must"
Straight from the guidelines for the hall of fame. I highly recommend you do some research into what you're talking about before you get all bitter at me, because clearly I'm such an incapable moron.
Also, the "let them attest" nonsense is ridiculous. I was perfectly capable of letting them do that. But who didn't let them attest, when words should be spoken from their mouths alone? Who decided to defend the OP when clearly they didn't realise what I or the OP had said? You.
If you're going to come here and insult my ability to communicate, blaming your own misinterpretation on me, you could have at least read what the OP linked in the extremely obviously linked hall of fame guidelines before you started calling me out. Telling people how stupid they are is usually a bad way to go, and will generally bite you back. Let the above quote be testament to that, please.
"The thread MUST contain some awesome custom content. Good looking images are a must"
Unless OP changed their diction recently, I don't see that anywhere in OP. I do see it in the overachiever's guide with a caveat above:
"Made by Cerroz. This stuff is encouraged, but NOT required. (Unfinished)" In this case.
I can see where you come from as OP is in a contradictory position with themselves. This should be remedied on the quick.
Straight from the guidelines for the hall of fame. I highly recommend you do some research into what you're talking about before you get all bitter at me, because clearly I'm such an incapable moron.
hmm, Never used that term to describe you. I will say that you're quite volatile and emotionally unstable and difficult to communicate with due to shut downs. Incapable? Not really. Moron? No. Hot headed and judgmental? Definitely.

I'll retract that point. I do apologize. OP has shown some inconsistencies that need to be cleared up.

I stated that two separate people were having difficulty navigating your train of thought. Two different people that arrived at the erroneous conclusion based on inadequate frame of reference.

Alright, let me clear this up for people who don't agree with the quote. If a suggestion is already good, an image makes it better, but even if the image is not there, the suggestion remains good. Yes, I understand that. But...
The thing is, there are a ton, and I mean a TON of well-explained suggestions that just stretch the post with detail and good formatting. Sadly, I can't just fit them all on the hall of fame. The hall of fame is not just about coming up with an extremely clever idea that's Mojang worthy, it's about putting in extra effort and going above and beyond for a suggestion.
There is a painfully rare exception where an image is not needed, and that's only for suggestions that, if implemented, you can't exactly... see. For example, a 160% quality thread about new commands wouldn't need images because, what is there to show? However, if you find a way to post a good image of something like that, that's a bonus.

hmm, Never used that term to describe you. I will say that you're quite volatile and emotionally unstable and difficult to communicate with due to shut downs. Incapable? Not really. Moron? No. Hot headed and judgmental? Definitely.
"Good lord, have you never heard of hyperbole to stress a point? Do I have to break down and explain all fundamental rhetorical devices before attempting to communicate?"
I'd like to see whatever qualifications you have which give you the right to tell me I'm 'emotionally unstable'. Sorry if I have little tolerance to this rubbish, but I think this has been a few too many labels now, so please take a look at what you're writing and reconsider whether insulting me is a suitable way to tell me I'm wrong.
I stated that two separate people were having difficulty navigating your train of thought. Two different people that arrived at the erroneous conclusion based on inadequate frame of reference.
You told me that this was being caused by my inability to communicate. Where is my point disproven?
Don't jump to conclusions.
So was this the joke? Isn't this basically what caused this whole debate, on your part? The first message I wrote, which started all of this, was not directed towards you. You can't blame me for you actually not having a clue what I was talking about. OP would have known exactly what I was referring to because he/she wrote it, right? Yes, that's right. If I'm talking to a friend and you walk in mid-conversation and don't have a clue what we're talking about, would it be reasonable to blame our communication skills? Not really.
But yes, complaining how I can't understand a hyperbole, how I can't communicate and how emotionally unstable I am is a good way to get on my nerves, and I'm going to assume you think I'm stupid. Am I wrong? Well I suppose that's your inability to communicate - I wouldn't think you were calling me stupid if you didn't insult me every other quote. Me reacting to these insults does not make me any of them. If you want to discuss this, show some manners before you cause something bigger than this debate.
tl;dr we can talk when you show a few manners to the person you're debating, this is going a little far.

I can agree with you here, though it does depend on the image, and I'm really hoping that when you talk about images you're talking about diagrams and screenshots rathers than "look guys we got an official suggestion logo its on a scroll and it rolls up at the end and everything!", because while those are pretty and might show people 'going above and beyond', that really has no bearing on the quality of the actual suggestion.
But yes, complaining how I can't understand a hyperbole, how I can't communicate and how emotionally unstable I am is a good way to get on my nerves, and I'm going to assume you think I'm stupid. Am I wrong?
Yes, you are wrong. I don't think you are stupid or incompetent. Stop trying to vilify me. Stop treating me like a bully by insinuating that I am calling you names that I clearly am not. This is especially relevant considering how I had to correct you on several occasions when you stated that I called you
1) an incompetent moron, which I haven't. I haven't even insinuated and don't think it, anyway.
2) stupid. I never said anything about how stupid you are. This is a very bad assumption caused by hasty generalization and a defensive attitude. This is also why I say you're emotionally unstable (getting upset at a bunch of words written by someone you'll probably never meet doesn't help.)
It's totally possible to disagree with someone without invoking ad hominem attacks. And yes, when you are irritable, hyperbole and sarcasm are difficult to distinguish from sincere beliefs. This causes a breakdown in communication. It happens to the best of us. Even in your case. You made a stance that seemed to indicate that images had no quantitative effect on the quality of a suggestion.
I misinterpreted that with a disfavor of OP's wording about posts needing images to be considered worthy of a hall-of-fame. On this note. I cannot agree with her criterion. I will have to agree with you here. As compelling as images are, a writer should not be graded on his ability to create an image for the same reason a fish should not be graded on its ability to climb a tree.
With that said, I'll concede. I understand your point of view and agree with it.
Theriasis does make a good point; but I'd say that a hof recommendation should not be evaluated on images as going above-and-beyond, but on all of the talent available to the suggester.

The only thing I've left to say is that I'm not defensive because I 'felt bullied', which I don't feel I implied. Its that you are trying to argue a point by getting sarcastic and rude, which I don't feel is constructive or helps in any way other than to irritate me. And yes, its going to bother me a little, you're going to have to get over the fact that you can't say whatever you want on the internet without raising a few eyebrows. I'm not upset or feeling bullied, this isn't baby's first debate, I'm not crying at the first sight of you disagreeing. This is a case of a bit of etiquette, I'm bothered because I don't feel I'm really being given due respect in a mature environment. The discussion becomes more akin to school children arguing. I'd go back argue with school kids if I wanted to hear "Oh my god, do I have to explain everything to you?"

Guys, stop. Simplify the argument. When it gets to the point that it's all just petty quabbling, that's always a good thing to do.
Oh wait, you can't. Because there IS NO ARGUMENT. It's been over for a while. Now this has become just a matter of pride. I'm all for letting debates get as heated as they need to be, but this is no longer a debate. And I know I'm interfering, but I believe that everyone involved in this argument is a very credible poster, I'm very familiar with each and every one of you.
So I'm just suggesting that you either simplify the argument, or drop it. Thanks

'This is the internet' feels like a bit of a last ditch argument, really. If somebody is going to tell me I'm emotionally unstable, do not understand basic rhetorical devices and am frequently jumping to conclusions (ironically enough), I think I have a decent enough reason to not reply "Okay dude, that's great then, we agree!"
I don't think this is a case of me just being a whiny, spineless child. Maybe I am, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm just a little bothered by how I am being criticised rather than my beliefs, and how everything I have to say comes down to a flaw in my character.
I think if people were less hasty in believing that they were definitely, completely, 100% right, they wouldn't be so quick to tell people that their opinions were result of flaws in their character. Its a bit of a shame.
---
But this is getting off-topic now, I've spoken my peace. If anybody wants to add to this discussion (as if), tell me I'm wrong, tell me I'm right (nah), I'd love to hear it, but not here anymore. I've said everything that needs to be said publicly. If Yoshi still wants to tell me I'm doing something wrong or whatever, he can message me about it. The discussion is done here. On that note, I'm probably going to look in the OP and edit this post to find something relevant I can talk about. I'm sure I could complain about something else, but maybe another time.

I'm curious to what posseses people to make threads like this. I'm assuming some of them have to do with senseless selfishness, as some of those threads start out with "uhh ok dis is how da game should be bcuz dats wat I think!" Yeah, that's an excellent way to get us to support you...
"HI WASSUP mojang should make it where torches go out at random and um... and um... and like um you have to relight them I think this idea is good and should be added so support because I think that!"[/i]
No.[/b] Stop. Game mechanics that worked well for over 4 years aren't the result of a positive accident. They are deliberate, well-balanced things that keep the game going. Understand that changing a good system for the worse "bcuz u think it'd be cool" is not only retarded but... No that's it, it's just retarded.
What, like the combat system that worked so well for 4 years and then got changed? I see the point, but I don't think "don't fix what isn't broken" doesn't work so well as a blanket statement.
Oh man, that image/hall of fame argument went on for a long time.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

Only images showcasing the suggestion are counted, fancy titles and banners are not. Thanks for bringing that up, I should clear up in the hall of fame guidelines. Keep that up and your name goes in the credits.
Also, I see Zippy mentioned as a major contributor. Does he still post in this thread? I haven't seem him.
He's still active and does help out with the guide here and there, and even finished his balance guide image not too long ago. He doesn't post anymore, though I really wish he would, I know him very well. Oh, did I mention I'm related to the guy? Criticism and satire runs in our family.

But seriously, that happens in real life too (I think arguing about this excuse, we can now consider it unrelated to the previous argument, right?). To be honest it happens to me more often than on the Internet. The one that gets me the most upset: whenever I'm arguing about something (important) with someone, and they end up just saying, "ok, whatever" and completely ignoring what I said. Since sometimes getting them I acknowledge the point can actually be rather important depending on the circumstance (also I'm stubborn), I always say "don't just say 'okay, whatever'". AND THEY RESPOND WITH "ok whatever". IS THAT NOT THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING? Yeah so this whole post might've been an excuse to vent about life stories as long as it's not that last argument

Ooh! The suggestion I was gonna give for the guide! I guess this should go under "presentations you need to avoid". And no, you don't get any fancy formatting like when teesee does it, because screw mobile.
Make your titles to the point.
A tile isn't a place for imagination, or creativity. A title's job is to give the reader an accurate idea on what the material is about. It shouldn't be a question, it should be the answer to that question. This isn't the servers section, don't add "{[|<#^" before and after the tile of your thread. (This would include hashtags, which is where I got the inspiration (teesee))

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move
Anyone think I should add something to the guide about when people go "Hmm, here's a fully explained suggestion, oh but I'm gonna have one important stat up for discussion and not final so don't criticize it!!"?
Thanks

A little off-topic, but I'm quite humbled by this post. Genuinely. I'm just feeling a little insulted, that's all. But maybe that doesn't belong here.
Yes, I know that's really sad.
Can we just drop this whole thing? It looks completely ridiculous. It looks like this:
1. A person makes a statement.
2. A second person argues something, believing the other person to be disagreeing with one of their views.
3. The first person explains themselves.
4. They suddenly realize they both actually agree.
5. The first person yells at the second for ignoring manners on the internet, of all places.
6. The second person is sorry that the first person feels that way, but feels that the first person is overreacting.
7. Repeat steps 5-6 until everyone is braindead.

Bah, it's definitely the place for it. The people I know online are as much of friends to me as real ones. But hey, I'm offended that nobody even looked at my gold suggestion (this time it might be shameless self promotion)
I think we need a new topic! I actually had a suggestion to the guide inspired by Teesee's hashtags thingy. I'll work on that in a sec

He's still active and does help out with the guide here and there, and even finished his balance guide image not too long ago. He doesn't post anymore, though I really wish he would, I know him very well. Oh, did I mention I'm related to the guy? Criticism and satire runs in our family.

*Cough* *cough* shaddup teesee they finally closed the argument *cough* *cough*

I tend to try to stop the argument if it is leading to a flamewar, badly it seems to make them rage out(most of the people that i argue with are violent or prepotent)so to stop an argument that is not leading nowhere most times i chose to lose it.
Haha yeah I did my best to stop this one from getting too bad. I hope I ended up helping

Anyone think I should add something to the guide about when people go "Hmm, here's a fully explained suggestion, oh but I'm gonna have one important stat up for discussion and not final so don't criticize it!!"? Ugh, really dude? If something important in the suggestion is not final, how can we reach a full conclusion in if we support or not?
