Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move
Yep, Mushroom stew being non stackable gives them some balance, at least nerfs it as a travelling food. Once you get a Mooshoom farm up and running at your base though - it does does almost seem like "cheating", since it's the only food source that needs zero resources to maintain - cow farming needs wheat, wheat needs bonemeal, potatoes need bonemeal and cooking, watermelons take time etc.
And oh, if I had my way the official game would look like Biomes O' Plenty on steroids. I have no idea why Mojang likes to keep the vanilla terrain generation so very, well, Vanilla. But then that's just my wish I don't have any argument as to why it would be a good thing.
A developer goal is that its game is able to be played on most plataforms.

Surely there would have been at least more than one support, especially if it was presented in the correct way. I would be willing to support the idea, and I would know a few other people who would as well, and I'm not just saying that as well. Also, there is a giant line between Wolves and a suggestion about Herobrine. Say if someone made a suggestion about wolves, and someone made a suggestion about Herobrine, the reactions and responses would greatly contrast from each other. Because one is suggesting a mob useful for the player, and one is suggesting one for the point of supporting the fact that Herobrine is real. And the reason why Herobrine suggestions have a bad reputation is because this is a pathetic creepypasta that started off as a joke, and has gone far for people to even SUGGEST for him to be added, and Mojang has confirmed SEVERAL times that he does not exist nor is he Notch's deceased brother or will he ever be added into Minecraft (excluding the -Removed Herobrine, but that's hardly even an addition, it's only an inside joke).
Also, don't doubt, question or wonder how many supports it would get, focus on the idea instead. The idea is more important than the reputation and popularity, though again, that may just be me due to how rare Mojang visits this site. And the only reason why I say this is because of that reason, but if popularity and reputation would be important, it would necessarily boost the chance of Mojang seeing it, but then again, that would be rather low.

Perhaps it could have, but unless that 'No Support' is supported by hard facts and a good explanation why, it can be considered dismissed, but that depends on a few things, and sometimes it's the case of the opinion of a person sometimes. The reasons you are using of "How people would not support this suggestion" are ones that are always supposed to be avoided, such as the ones in Yoshi's FTC. Saying "Pets do not belong in Minecraft" makes no sense, by that logic, we also shouldn't have slabs and stairs, because "Shapes other than squares do not belong in Minecraft". And "the idea of taming a wild dog with a few bones is silly" ....in what way is that supposedly silly? Suggesting a whale made of candy that plays the harp is silly. By default, the stereotype behind Bones and Dogs makes sense, because again, it's a stereotype, and that's usually used behind Bone chew toys.

Just because a mod adds so much with seemingly little downside doesn't mean it's a must add for vanilla. It's easy to say "this mod is awesome, why is Mojang not copy and pasting that in the game?" But it just doesn't work that way. Because first off, it's not easy as "copy and pasting", because it needs to be optimized for over a million players.
And second, just because us players find no negatives in a mod doesn't mean Mojang doesn't. I do like the Biomes O' Plenty mod, but I can't say I'd want it in vanilla unless each biome offered more than some new visuals and different kinds of wood.

I do not think Herobrine shoud be added now because he has been established as a bad joke, and is accepted by the Minecraft community as being a bad joke. But see how I give an actual reason though? I do not just flat out state "Herobrine does not exist let's shut this nonsense down". That argument makes zero sense to me since the Minecraft world is a fantasy world and in a fantasy world non existent things can begin to exist at our leisure. Like slabs did not exist, however someone at Mojang wanted them to, so Voila, they now exist, same with the Enderdragon (real life of course is very different. Things can still exist even if we wish they did not and things we wish were true do not always appear.) If Mojang suddenly decide they want Herobrine to exist than exist he shall, (at least inasmuch as zombie pigmen exist) although I would say that would feel a bit corny and wouldn't be the best move.
However, I do think there would be room for adding some sort of creepy "presence" in Minecraft. Perhaps not so much a character you ever have to defeat, but maybe a trail of clues, like taking the idea of Music Disc 11 and extending it, to give us some hints at a sinister force. It would still be open for the player's interpretation enough to avoid turning into an "official story". If I ever get a more detailed idea for this I may start a suggestion thread on it.

I think somehow connecting that to the Ender Dragon or Wither would be cool, but adding something else creepy just for the point of being creepy would be dumb in minecraft. It's not a "creepy" game. Yeah, something like adding something sinister to the wither would be fine, and a bit cool, but just adding something scary for no other reason than to exist would just be a bad idea.
Nothing actually in the horror genre, and nothing just for cheap scares I agree that wouldn't fit. Just stuff in the same vein as music disc 11 - subtle stuff, mostly a trail of easter eggs. It could imply some sort of connection to the wither or enderdragon, that's not a bad idea.

I have seen lots of posts saying that we dont need more utility mobs on game or animals on general.(mainly because there is a small portion of hostile mobs compared to the utility ones).
also i have heard people that said that MC does not need more mobs(hostile/passive) at the time.
most pet suggestions here on the forum get smashed by most of the community.
the only suggestion i have seen of a new pet that survived enough tie was the dove and pigeon one.

Also, even though the OP specifically says they will 'never redo the guide so it's "nicer to people"', that isn't the way the forums work. Reading through it I see a lot of things that are abrasive at best, and downright mean and rude at worst. The actual lessons it teaches are great, but the way things are said could be improved. I'm going to read through it a few times and talk it over with the other Minecraft Discussion staff to see if it needs to be revised, and then we can go from there, working with Theriasis and the other major contributors to this thread. It might not even need to be changed at all, jefe has the final say on that.
I'd just like to let you know, since I'm aware a big piece about this is people might not find it rude/offensive, that I personally agree. I think this guide has great intentions for trying to help players make good suggestions, but ends up just discouraging things and creating taboos, rather than encouraging useful techniques (this is a generalization, the overachiever's guide encourages plenty of great techniques, and some things, like overheated arguments, deserve to be made into taboo). I know it probably doesn't mean much, I'm just letting you know that what you're saying isn't without grounds. (Also not trying to insult you directly Theriasis, I know that you created this guide to help the forums, and I fully respect how far you've taken those great intentions).

That's a very good way of putting it. The guide does indeed contain many useful tips for formulating a solid suggestion, but unfortunately what hits one first is the abrasiveness, smugness and crotchety-ness of the tone in which it's written, and the message is buried under that. What hits first is nothing but "this idea is stupid, that idea is stupid, don't do this, don't do that...and above all your dumb ideas are stupid stupid dumb people, never forget"
It is possible to write a guideline like this in a way that isn't all pc sunshine and rainbows but isn't all smug and offputting either.
and above all your dumb ideas are stupid stupid dumb people, never forget"
I know this is exaggeration, but there isn't any part of the guide comes close to "all your ideas are dumb, remember that!!" Otherwise, what would be the point of the guide? People seem to take the entirety of the guide and smack the "hater" label on it, but this is mostly the excuses, presentations and inferior suggestions part (and even some of those entries aren't all that mean, some are neutral and some are actually very forgiving).
The image guide, balance guide and criticism guide seem to not get ragey at all.
It is possible to write a guideline like this in a way that isn't all pc sunshine and rainbows but isn't all smug and offputting either.
Which risks making the guide very 'meh'.

The problem is that if you make a bad suggestion before it wont matter how much effort you put to the next one.....most people will not support your idea because of the simple fact that you made a error and getting out of the hole is difficult.

I talked it over with some of the other MD staff and my admin and this guide is set to be updated with a version that aims more to explain what should be done, rather than what should not be done. I regret to say that it will likely be an entirely new guide. I know that is going to make many people upset and rightfully so, but when I have time (I'm running late to finish some house painting atm) I am going to send out a PM to all of the major contributors listed, as well as a few others (a couple of other users, and the rest of the MD staff and jefe to help moderate the discussion). I think it works best as a collaborative effort for those who wish to participate in order to make the guide as informative and user friendly as possible.

Agreed, I have a large amount of respect for Theriasis and they definitely know what should be aimed for when writing a suggestion, but a lot of the manner in which it is said is "If you do this you are stupid" rather than giving people a method to follow for refining and improving their own ideas. That is the primary issue with the thread, focusing too much on the dozens of possible things people shouldn't do rather than explain what they should do.
I strongly disagree about changing the guide to not offend people. I don't see anything wrong with the way it is written. However, I am sure that the staff can sort it out in a reasonable manner if there is a problem.
Well, aside from the fact that the original post borderline breaks a few particular rules (flaming and flamebaiting mostly, and you can still break them without directing comments at specific people), plus it uses a couple of words here and there that definitely fall into the category of "slurs" in the manner they are used, even if they are not directed at others. This guide was made before a lot of that was enforced as much as it should be.

That would be the goal we're aiming for. I don't want to shower the reader with lollipops of happy feelings or make them feel bad either. The goal is to be informative, not to be nice or be mean.

I definitely want to incorporate the existing information as much as possible, but there is an awful lot of fat that can be trimmed. There isn't much need to explain why every bad excuse possible is bad, and a lot of the "Defeat" guide isn't really necessary, mainly the first section of it. Learning how to respond and incorporate feedback, as well as knowing that it is okay to post a suggestion other people dislike are the key parts of it, and there isn't a point to stage the Suggestions section as a battle where you win or lose, because this section is about discussion and building off of other ideas, not about winning and losing.
Except it gets the message across. While it is possible to make some of those ideas good, it just takes time to do so and most people would probably just post "Plz make ____" and make it extremely overpowered.
Then you risk having the message not spreading to newcomers.
Actually, while the stickied threads are very informative, they do next to nothing to solve that issue. Most people who are going to make a thread like that aren't going to read through the stickied threads at all. There hasn't really been any change in good vs bad suggestions since this thread was made, at least no noticeable difference. Stickied threads in this section exist either as a resource to be linked to (as I have seen you doing quite a bit, which is good), or as a catch all designed to suck up some of the more redundant things like small suggestions or achievement suggestions.

Yeah, that's not bad. I'd enjoy that, I think.

I've been gone for a while. Anyone care to catch me up on the argument? If not that's cool too I can just watch the saltiness from the middle

Oooooh boy. That was very painful to read. So this well-formatted guide of 3 years is just gonna vanish?
