Eh, the problem is that sometimes that can be justified. And by that I also mean that that could be misinterpreted by people to mean still in development suggestions-as in suggestions open to new ideas and implementing them constantly.
Also the fact that it might cause people to focus on unfinished details, even if they're super minuscule. But hey, it sounds like in over thinking it I'm just stubborn

It's fine to change something in a suggestion because it was unbalanced before, but it's dumb to leave out an important detail just because you could think up the rest of the idea, but just want to leave 'that one part' up for discussion. And people probably won't keep coming back to a thread to keep checking if something has been finalized like it should have been the first time.
How are we gonna know your mob idea is balanced if there's no decision on what its damage is?
How are we gonna know your new furnace is balanced if we don't know the smelt times?

Oh I see what you mean now by the whole "up for discussion" thing, I was thinking something else at first. I still think it's possible some users could get confused, but it's barely an issue now.
Im all for it as long as you make the section clear, because it's perfectly fine for threads to be I complete, albeit not in the manner you describe (as well as a few others)

We try to give the more detail we want to the suggestion, and if it fails we can always fix it. but we must try out and not let other people fix our threads.

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move

so im just too bored to put any sort of critical thinking into my post so im just gonna say right off the bat guys we NEEEEEEED this in the game. okay so here is my suggestion i suggest dat we add a newwwww ore. dis new ore is called uranium ore and you can combine it with redstone and sticks to create a super spamclick sword so that noobs can pvp again111!!1111!!!!!1!1!!!!!! RHIGHT?
Well this is a good way to get murdered by critics...
Most old game mechanics were removed for a good reason. Stop trying to shoehorn old beta terrain generation and things like that. A lot of these suggestions are not only unfitting because too many things have changed to re-implement them, but they are just plain obnoxious in how they are incredibly subjective and don't even consider the results of adding something back that was r-e-m-o-v-e-d for a reason. I've seen a few suggestions asking about bringing spam clicking back. Seriously? Let it die. It's old news.
Also, another suggestion: make this guide darker and more angry (if that's possible)
Not sure if the "example" actually matches "items that use old game mechanics." What does Uranium have to do with old game mechanics? Also, I think this is somewhere in the enormous list, specifically because I remember the phrase "removed for a reason" being in the suggestion guide somewhere...
Darker and angrier would not work. Failure should be ridiculed. Anger would just push people into being offended, rather than shamed as they should be.
Only images showcasing the suggestion are counted, fancy titles and banners are not. Thanks for bringing that up, I should clear up in the hall of fame guidelines. Keep that up and your name goes in the credits.
Oh my, I'll be e-famous before I know it. Maybe I'll be in somebody's top 10 critics list. Someday...

Agree with Chameleon here, mostly. I don't think that most of the errors with your example have anything to do with the issue, seems like you just wanted to make the poster dumber.
Anyway, when have these blocks or items ever been an issue? Are you just making up bad suggestions or are these actually a prevalent issue?
P.S. I also don't like shaming or ridiculing bad suggestions, as often people need to learn. One of the things that bugs me personally with this thread and a large portion of this section. Maybe that's just because I'm spineless and want everybody to be happy and helpful all the time. I think Teesee has seen that stance plenty from me.
This is specifically about teesee trying to make the guide "darker and angrier". That shouldn't be the point. This guide shouldn't be something people use to shame other people. It should be something that someone uses to check their own suggestions with to ensure quality, or that the more experienced critics can refer the new ones to. Remember the point of everything we do in this thread is to help, not hurt. (Also I don't get that example. Was there a sword that did that in beta?)

This is a big point. It should be noted that I think these suggestions need to be pointed out for what not to do; but if there were some way of stripping them from their original poster, it'd do more good. In most cases, the suggester is long-since defeated, and new posters would be beating the dead horse.
Theriasis has done a good job removing those associations though. Often her "bad suggestions" as examples are wild-spun and extreme; but usually always funny.
I'm having a hard time following this one. I don't think I've ever seen this excuse being used.
Well, there's already an entry about not suggesting what's been removed from the game, if that's what you're going for.
Added "Leaving Important Details Up For Debate" to the extended presentations section.
i have a question, there are some features that mojang didnt add because they didnt have the time or enought interest .....and eventually they forgot to add them.
Here are some examples of items that were removed for a reason:
*Horse saddle(had the same purpose that the saddle)
*Roses(replaced byy poppies)
*Obsidian Walls(This ones were useless)
*Humans(i think removed because the adition of villagers)
*Winter mode(Replaced with snow biomes)
Features Removed for lack of interest:
*Calm4.ogg(music that used to play when fighting the enderdragon)
*Mobs running from creepers.
Mentioned Features that were victim of lack of interest too:
*Lanterns(it got a negative response from the community because i could break torches, but on my opinion it could just be a medium game and better light source like glowstone)
*Lecters.
*Coral
*Cherry trees.
so there are plenty of features that were removed without a strong reason.while i agree that people shouldnt keep poting threads to take back things from other updates that were removed or a reason, this ones dont seem to have at least a logical one.

Mojang arguments to make bunny A.I cheap and awful on bold. but we are able of suggesting small critters that just give ambience to the world right?
Pardon my late reply. It was more or less just a frame of reference for cases of people who want to suggest in general illogical tameable mobs such as "red dragonz", and insert other crazy ideas here. It's completely fine to suggest atmospheric mobs, just so long they're done right. I don't have issues with Rabbits. I'm just not exactly great at putting things into words.
A lot of the things that did end up in making it into vanilla minecraft would never have measured up to this VERY strict guideline (using lapis for enchanting I'm sure would never have been supported, for example). The very suggestion of Minecraft Story Mode got laughed down.
Also I fail to see what is so terribly embarrassing about asking a mod to "please close this thread" or "please delete". Perhaps my embarrassment threshold is high or maybe sometimes people just change their minds and no longer support their own suggestion. It doesn't always mean they can't take criticism.

I don't know, I've seen some goofy suggestions get loaded with support because they managed to be helpful without being too out there or unbalanced. Maybe if presented properly, the Lapis might have a chance of surviving if it was suggested back in the day.
The guide isn't as strict as people make it out to be. Yes, there are a TON of "don't do this, and that neither", but those cover excuses and and whatnot that simply don't help a suggestion in any way. And even though all the entries are described in an insulting manner, it does at least describe why the excuse is stupid.

I don't think you read that part right. It just explains how to get your thread locked/deleted. That section even explains it may be for the best (as you don't want a super hated idea collecting more attention and posts when you wouldn't want it to.) As for any embarrassment, it just goes over that even if you make the dumbest thread in the world, getting it deleted doesn't mean you "hit the reset button" and you're home free.
Which in short, just comes down to "be sure of what you post before you post it."

Mojang _still_ hasn't made one. The only way it happened was because Telltale Games purchased a license to Minecraft to make one. Just pointing out that this is not a good example.
I knew somebody would say that. Doesn't change the fact that Mojang's logo is there when millions of people fire it up.
Just because you do not approve of it or approve of who collaborated with Mojang does not make it unreal.
Mojang agreed to put their name to it, that makes it cannon, even if it was arguably a poor decision.
And btw, I'm sure there are some so called 'nostalgia freaks' who would argue that minecraft does not exist after ver 1.2.
I agree they certainly could have aimed it at a more general audience. They played it way too safe imo. I've already written about that in the Story Mode section.
However somebody having a personal dislike of it doesn't make it non-cannon either. And yes, putting their name to it does pretty much make it cannon. Perhaps they should/could have distanced themselves from it more, but there you go. Arguing that you don't like the story, voice acting, animation etc - I don't see how this changes things.
And somebody mentioned "Minecraft Story Mode" - that exact phrase near the beginning of this thread back in 2012 and it was not well received.
Christ, why are new users posting suggestions here?! WHY?!
Just... no.
It's on page six of this very thread. Someone suggested "Minecraft Story Mode" and this was the reaction they got.
That was exactly 3 years ago. Like it or not "Minecraft Story Mode" now exists in some sort of official capacity (hard to deny, even if you don't like it described as cannon. I mean it ain't exactly just fanfiction on some kid's tumblr is it? It's on the front page of google play last I checked, it's making money, and that sure is real enough to most folk.)
All I'm suggesting is that this suggestion forum seems a little too happy to denounce ideas as stupid because of some strict rule, or even because of no rule, just that people are closed minded.
Edit - not related to this debate but people think MSM has bad voice acting? Really? I mean Patton Oswalt, Billy West and Dave Fennoy? It's pretty hard for these guys to be bad.
Mojang agreed to put their name to it, that makes it cannon, even if it was arguably a poor decision.
First of all, the word is "canon", not "cannon". Second, no. It absolutely 200% does not work that way. Mojang's label is seen in Story Mode because they are the ones who came up with the concept of Minecraft to begin with, and Telltale gives Mojang credit because Telltale is borrowing Mojang's very creation. That doesn't make something canon. Only if Mojang openly said "yup, this is canon" would that be the case.
If anything, Story Mode represents some sort of multiplayer server where the "players" can actually talk.
And btw, I'm sure there are some so called 'nostalgia freaks' who would argue that minecraft does not exist after ver 1.2.
Here's the thing about the nostalgia freaks. A lot of them are people who enjoyed being "new and confused" at the game, got used to it, asked for more stuff, got more stuff, and then turned around and said "omggggg this is not the game I remember!!!!" Some of those people just didn't know what they want. Or only know what they don't want.
