A crap ore suggestion is any suggestion for an ore that has no unique uses, and usually just tools and armor. I would like a new ore that not only fills the gap, but gives me a reason to keep using it once I have access to a higher tool tier.

Like Iron is used in pistons, compasses, doors, minecarts, bars, cauldrons, railroads, flint and steel, shears, and buckets.
As someone stated above, there is no need to seal the gap when the rarity of diamond vs the commonness of iron balances out. This IS another New Ore! idea, because all it does is add a new level of tools/armor, which every other ore idea does already.
Unless there is some other aspect there's no real reason to add it.
Well diamond is RARE, i rarely find it, a new ore would be best so i can use it until i find diamonds
Which is why you have iron. Iron can already mine everything except obsidian. Adding a new high durability tool that could mine obsidian would pretty much make diamond obsolete. Adding a tool with speed in between iron and diamond would be pretty pointless as well.
Suggestion:
Try to think of things other ores haven't covered already, such as magnetism, gravity, magical properties, etc, sort of like how redstone relates to electricity.
I like the idea of a tier of ores between Iron and Diamond. Although maybe instead of Corundum, it's some fictional type of metal, which can be arranged like how Clocks and Compasses are made, except it will predict the weather, or count how many mobs are in the surrounding area. That, along with the new tools and armor would be great.
At least make it something more predictable, like Titanium. It's strong and corrosion resistant, pretty much making it a practical metal to use in tools, and maybe armor as well.
But, as far as this goes, I'm fine with all the tiers of ores we have now. I don't want overcrowded amounts of armor like in Skyrim. It goes good in that game, but in Minecraft it will just crowd everything up.
