Great idea. FPS would triple for some people. It's a shame how Mojang are using their favorite technique at the moment, which involves finding a good idea, working on it, getting bored/distracted and scrapping it completely.

To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
I just figured out how to get over 20 fps consistantly with optifine but its not compatible with the snapshot. I feel like if theres a third party program that can utilize multi core for such a long time it seems redundant that after this long and over 7 million copies sold that the game itself utilization wise seems to be stuck in the early 2000s? C'mon step it up for your customers Mojang this should at least be on a high priority to get done.
I fully support this.
I have 6 cores and only 1 being used is kind of pointless.
Multiple cores working at the same time would increase my fps by hundreds!
Minecraft doesn't even take full advantage of my 16GB of ram (only uses 1GB )
If this game used all my 8 cores....*gasm*
I'd just like to point out that you can set Minecraft to run with more RAM. Though seeing as I'm rather late to post on this thread, I would assume (and hope) you would know this seeing as it's in the profile options of the new launcher.
My old macbook runs hot on minecraft, but it has another core just chilling...
This would improve performance for so many people.
^ This. I want Minecraft to take advantage of all of the cores of my computer.
