So, it has become quite clear that stats are going to be implemented in the game somehow. There is an important aspect to consider of stats, however. Stats can be kept on a low scale, similar to basic DnD: You start out with 5-10 hit points and similar values for other stats. High scale stats, like in final fantasy games, make stats start at 50-60 or even higher and go from there. Each system has pros and cons. For example, a low scale makes the user be more cautious, while a high scale allows for more flexibility but encourages reckless gameplay that can get out of hand, i.e large power differences from NPCs and players. What do you think? Is it not such a big deal? Also what do you think of stats in general?

Well, I mean - ratio is more important than scale.
All scale does is change the granularity of your stat system; lower granularity leads to clearer differences, in general. Here's what I meant.
"High Scale" can mean numbers that are in the thousands, or decimals that include thousandths.
V.High Decimal Scale:
John has 1.5124 Strength.
Sarah has 2.9283 Strength.
Two-Digit Scale
John has 15 Strength.
Sarah has 29 Strength.
One-Digit Scale
John has 3 Strength.
Sarah has 6 Strength.
Boolean Scale
John is NOT STRONG.
Sarah is STRONG.
edit oh yeah, by the way, I am not sure if it's a placeholder or not ):, most people aren't as anti-stats as I am, and congrats on buying minecraft! and welcome, ex-lurker!

STRONGLY
--> It may just be a placeholder. I hope for this. Either that or Notch magic proving me wrong.
... Oh, and I don't quite get what you're talking about. Also ratio and scale are vastly different.

Generally, I'm ambivalent towards character stats, and they could be useful (indeed) for roleplay servers. Either way, I am indifferent.
