Siege weapons would mostly be used in multiplayer, although the "horde" game mode (see here]) could use it too. It is suggested that this damage system is used. The weapons would be as follows:
WEAPON: Small battering Ram
USE: Especially effective against doors and pistons.
HOW TO USE: Right click to pick up one end. 4 people are required for it to work properly. If everybody is sprinting it will destroy any doors/pistons/iron bars/glass it comes in contact with.
CRAFTING RECIPE:
WEAPON: Small ballista
USE: Launches spears (see diagram 2).
HOW TO USE: Right click with a spear to load it, and again to fire. It would auto-aim away from you.
CRAFTING RECIPE:
From here on, a special crafting table must be used which has a 6x6 square crafting space, however after crafting it auto-places the item on top of the crafting table. These weapons (for obvious reasons) cannot be picked up.
Siege crafting table:
WEAPON: Trebuchet
USE: A long range projectile weapon that can send projectiles over enemy walls.
HOW TO USE: Right click with either planks or smooth stone to load the catapult. If loaded with planks, right-click again with flint and steel to light it up. Right click to fire.
EXTRA: When loaded with smooth stone it will do extra damage to players and walls, when loaded with (flaming) planks it will light things ablaze in a 3x3 square (see diagram 3)
CRAFTING RECIPE: ]
WEAPON: Small cannon
USE: A long range projectile weapon. Used to launch TNT.
HOW TO USE: Right click with TNT to load it in, then right-click with gunpowder to arm it. Right click a last time to fire. The cannon auto-aims away from you.
CRAFTING RECIPE:
WEAPON: Scorpion ballista
USE: A large portable ballista
HOW TO USE: Same as small ballista

Personally, I believe the siege weapons we have now are FAR better.
The TNT cannons we have now allow for player creativity in their construction and ingenuity with their design. It isn't just a crafted object that functions exactly the same every time you make it; It is a creation that the players themselves design.
I can see some of these working well in PVP, much like your minecart suggestion. Keep up the good work.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...

I would definitely make this into a mod if I knew java.
Edit: Should I post this in the mod requests section too?
ps. I think the battering ram should destroy weak blocks suck as dirt and sand, and sometimes wood planks.
I think I will I'm not on my computer right now so I can't make the crafting recipes but I'll be sure to get to that.

Because then people wouldn't need to be creative with TNT cannons, and that would detract from the game.

Cool!
Everybody else: yeah, I guess a lot of creativity would be lost for TNT cannons. I keep meaning to post in the mod request forum but keep forgetting.
And no, I don't watch yogscast (at all), captain sparkles is much better.
Edit: maybe have these only craftable in the horde game mode? (see my other suggestions.)

or -1 me with your mind. One of them is less frustrating.
Anyway, I love the idea of siege weapons, but I think we only really need an onager (catapult).
Yeah, but perhaps with some modifications...
What's up? I'm the proud co-owner of a little ClassiCube server called Minebuild.

Sometimes, you just need a little more cave.
Dude, AoE II is my second favorite game.
First being Minecraft, of course.
I wish they remade AoE II. AoE III is kinda bad, and few people dare play a game that was last remade in 2001.
Yes, I want a way to destroy people's buildings from range. Sieges with arrows are too weak.
