Hey everyone i was wondering... Rotten flesh is completely useless in minecraft. All it does is poison you when you eat it so i would say... Should it be removed and replaced with something abit more useful?. Because im tired of throwing away rotten flesh. Its just a small question i thought of. What do you think?.
Wow!. Alot of comments in the first minute. Thanks for the replies anyways. I guess rotten flesh should not be removed judging by the votes and comments. But anyways just a thought.
I find it can come in handy. Sure, the food poisoning makes it so that, in the end, you only gain like half a "food" but still, if used properly, it can save one from starving, or it can be used to gain a couple hearts (if it fills your "food" bar for a couple seconds)

Well, Rotten flesh isn't useless. Imagine your in a cave staving to death and you ate all the food you came down with, all you had were a ton of rotten flesh from killing zombies. You could eat the flesh, your food bar would be full, but you would get a bit hungry from eating the flesh, but you only lose 1.5 points of hunger from it. So its worth it!

I use it for these 2 reasons. I ate it when I simply ran out of food, whether if it was during travel and I didn't think I needed to slay more animals or at the beginning waiting for wheat to grow but apples take that place now. If I have a dog it's the only thing I feed it. Too bad dogs don't eat apples also. :tongue.gif:
If you stand still while you're food poisoned, it only goes down 1 1/2 energy bars, so you can at least get a lot out of it. That's the price you pay if you're too lazy to get a steady food source.
Everything in the game has a use, it's just that many are too lazy to figure them out and it gets irritating.
The reason i thought of this is because i had a NPC village with ALOT of farms. And per day i get 20 bread slices. So i have a great income of bread from the NPC village. But anyways thanks for the comments. I will rethink this now.
I'd like to see rotten flesh removed, or at least have a use for it. In standard minecraft, I have never had to rely on rotten flesh to survive.
I'd prefer to see rotten flesh as a far more rare drop that could give some combat buffs and a few penalties. For instance, rotten flesh could increase attack damage by 1 heart, but slowly drain your health (or negate regen if your food bar is full). Either way, I'd like to see rotten flesh as something better or more useful than "the crap that takes up inventory space".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it make the potion of poison or something? Which you can then use as a splash potion?

Rotten flesh is quite a good food source. As long as you stand still without sprinting, jumping or fighting you normally don't loose any health at all. I use it all the time and ends up with a full stomach and a full health bar every time.
Rotten flesh is a great survival food as it's something that pretty much always are found in your inventory since you will pick it up after killing a zombie whether you wanted to or not.
Especially in caves it's very effective as there is not much to eat down there. If you have enough wood planks to make a crafting table and bowls you could start looking for mushrooms, but since you need both brown and red mushrooms to make stew this can be a hard task.
Another benefit with rotten flesh is that it does not require any time to prepare.
To get meat you need to actively hunt for animals (zombies don't need to be hunted since they will come to you), in addition the meat need to be cooked to become proper food.
Bread is even worse as you first need to build a farm, then you need to wait for the wheat to grow, then you need to gather the wheat (and re-seed the farm), and lastly you need to craft the bread with a crafting bench.
It shouldn't be removed, it should be given more uses. Perhaps it could be used as a less effective bonemeal. It could also be used for potions and bait, like others have said.

agreed. as long as it is incorporated into at least one new crafting recipe im happy
For a while it was the only thing zombies dropped, which was okay, I guess. You gotta drop something, right? But now zombies drop various treasures, so yeah, I'd say there's no point to the zombie flesh.

That's a spider eye.
Rotten flesh is a great item if you have a pack of wolves to care for. Other than that, I see little use for it aside from emergency food.

What? Just google "The answer to life, the universe, and everything." It's a reference to the best sci-fi series ever.
