Think AstroTurf, but with Notch's name splattered all over it. It would sound (mostly) like grass, look (pretty much) like grass, and would survive under shadow. Then people could complain about how someone didn't spring for real grass in the baseball stadium.

You can already get a very astroturf-y experience from green cloth blocks. In shade, it can be difficult to tell the difference.
