Well, since it's a browser game, I'll be very tempted to be wanting to play this in school. If you could get an SSL certificate, or even spoof one just to be able to get on it, I'm sure a lot of people would be happy.
...why? SSL Encrypts the data between your and the server, it adds to the servers load and is totally pointless for a game. Can you explain why exactly this is a good idea?
It's not encrypting java, just the website. It won't affect the communications directly from the client to the server. That would be the same. I will explain since you completely missed the point of the post. I would like to play this at school, as well as others, and an easy way of doing this is to SSL encrypt the web page.

I know exactly how SSL works, it encrypts the data between you and the server, which is what I just said. How does this help with school? Any basic web filtering system will block this, whether or not you use ssl.

Not really, since all of the data is encrypted, even the headers stating where it is going and where it is coming from. Unless all SSL is blocked it takes a bit of effort to sort out and filter SSL requests to blocked sites.

What do you seriously have against this idea?
The way normal filters work is to check the output of the webpage, if it contains certain words or is in a list of blacklisted websites then it is filtered and access refused. I don't like the idea because SSL increases server load and is pretty much redundant, a proper ssl certificate costs money and using self signed throws up ugly warnings which will put none-knowledgeable users off, so far you're the only user who has requested this.
Damn why do you guys get pissed when people suggest stuff?
Remove the damn suggestion forum then
You seem to be ignoring the topics where good suggestions are made. We get "pissed" when people suggest silly things that have no real merit and would cause more problems than they would solve.

If you really want to play at school, put a client on a flashdrive. Plug it in, and you're golden.
I got suspended for bringing in a flash drive once.
So you're willing to risk getting around blocks to play a game when you got suspended for having a flash drive?

I really don't want to bump this, but they are fine with you playing games at lunch really. Just not during class. It's not a security risk to be playing a game in their eyes. I don't think we still need to have this suggestion done, but I still feel like that needs to be said.

As long as you're posting relevant things; post away :smile.gif:
So basically; you're allowed to play games at lunch but they still block them? I guess your only solution is to download and either host it somewhere yourself, email it yourself or use a flashdrive - which you can't - so yeah, uh...

Also, school is for working :wink.gif:
Quality of output = Skill * Effort
This. Now stop playing and get back to studying.
Whitelists are annoying to setup and manage.
Wordlists tend to hit alot of innocent sites. More so than blacklists.
Really school filters are easy.
