How about the Darkness
The Darkness is a dimension located beneath the overworld but above the nether and is made up of bedrock. The mobs are dark shawdows of the zombie, the skeleton, the spider and the creeper, they dealt 2 times of regular damage. The Darkness has a level 1 light allowing these darkness mobs to spawn constanly plus place any light source would result in an explosion. The only source of light you will find is spirt light directly above you and it cannot be obtained. Going to the Darkness requires making a portal out of skulls (a drop by skeletons with a 1-100 chance of being dropped) and activating it with a flint&steel. Items you can find in the Darkness are;
*Diamond Block
*Eye of the Ender
*Darkness sword(a lengendary sword that dealt 8 hearts of damage *VERY RARE*)

How about going to the skylands/Ather, you must obtain a dragon egg from the end, you must then raise a dragon until you it learns a move called "dragon ascend" in which in flies straight into the air into the clouds. Doing this contains a rare chance of picking up a cloud block that is used in constructing a skyland/Ather portal.

Improving the Nether is difficult as it's main issue is the lack of anyone's intrest to live there. Sure there's Nether fortress and new mobs but they only add ocassional trips for the player, let's not forget that you cannot pour water with mods or creative. There needs to be a real pupose for living in the Nether.
i don't think most of the thing in the Aether will get added to minecraft, that is why im trying to make a sugestion of a Skylands that fits into minecraft better
Boss for the Nether could be this huge lava/Netherrack monster that is half embedded in the ground. Because it's a huge thing that towers up, say, 50 blocks up,it would allow at least some attention to detail on the creature. It would also be incredibly hard to beat because it's made of lava and thus you can't touch it without dying (no water in the Nether, so lava would burn you to death). Not sure how you would beat it, though. Maybe with the inclusion of some new weapons/items?

There are different collor of dragons, one for each dimension (exapt the end, that dragon is a full boss). like the overworld dragon would be green, the neather dragon be red, the water dimension dragon be blued the skylands dragon be a white/yellow/light blue or something. The dragons would have a special "dungeon" that would rarely appear when the map generates. if you would like more details you can tell me, but i don't want to just clutter up the thread withong posts.

Green: they would be found in a huge obsidian dome wich would be completely underground and the dragon would be sleeping in the middle and there would be a chest in the room containing lots of really good items. But if you go anywere near the dragon or try to open the chest the dragon will wake up. Ther first thing it will do is blast the walls of the dome with fire, regenerating the obsidian that was drestrode by the player (when getting in the dungeon) and then the battle will begin. (enter boss fight here that i cant think of how it would go) After you kill the dragon you can get the green dragon egg it drops, lots-o-exp and the chest
Red: found in the neather, the dragon will be resting in a pool of lava, being to relaxed to notice you. It is found in a large open cave (if the dungeon is produced in a spot thats not a cave [like inside of a large thing of rock or slightly below th e ground] then a area would be cleared out for it)there would be small lava pools around the area (but not a lava ocean) and lava comming down from the cieling making a circle around the fighting area. Blazes would also be able to spawn there. (rest of boss fight here) when you defeat the dragon he will drop alot of neather items (neather wart, blaze powder, magma cream) a red dragon egg, and pure fire (to make chainmail armour)
Blue: this dragon would be found in a sunken temple, in a large room, frozen in ice. when you free it the dragon will try to kill you and all exits will be sealed off. (boss fight details i still cant come up with) After you kill it a chest will appear in the middle of the room comtaining some goodies and the dragon will drop a blue dragon egg and ice.
white/yellow/something: this dragon will appear as a statue on a flat floating island that looks like a shrine/alter. after you try to mine it it will burst out of the statue, knocking you back some, then the fight will begin. (i would most likly be able to come up with a boss fight if the skylands was already ingame) after you kill it it would drop its color of dragon egg and a dragon statue (a smaller version that doesnt summon a dragon when broken) and lots of valuable items will rain down drom the sky landing all around the alter/shrine

That's your opinion, minecraft can't stay the same forever, this is just one way of improving mincraft by adding more content.

If there are going to be generated structures in the air, they better be worth going to.
as some stated in the thread, there is no point in having the dragon there, it should be removed from the idea entirely.
I do like the idea of having more generated structures, but how does this have to do with dimensions?
unless the sky castle leads to a sky dimension or something.
