Nothing more to say.
I wish this would happen :tongue.gif:
Minecraft is changing to much. not all is for the better.
The End Fails...
the water floors did look better in previous versions, however resources are more easily attainable now. its a trade off. personally this really doesnt bother me a whole lot. at least there is a reason for it - unlike scrapping the beaches.
the worst part is i imagine these changes will be permanent because to change the terrain generation code would cause everyone post 1.0.0 to have to generate new maps. i believe pre 1.8 maps did look a lot better for your reasons and other reasons as well that you didnt mention, but i highly doubt there will be any changes made. :sad.gif:
Oh wait! There is!
Actually, changes to the terrain generation code are coming, according to Jeb. That is good, and there will be backwards-compatibility to maps generated using whatever version of the terrain generator the map used.
All I'm hoping is that 1.7 maps will get this backwards-compatibility, not just 1.8 maps and on. That seems rather unlikely though.

I love building on beaches and now the only beach I can build on is desert biomes close to the water :[
The bottom of water bodies should probably be more similar to how it was pre 1.8 except maybe the floor should vary between dirt/clay/sand/gravel/stone etc. The random spots should probably go.
They took 40 blocks. That’s as many as four tens. And that’s horrible.
