This suggestion is so awesome that half the front page posts also have reputation given. Something was obviously done right. Congratulations. :biggrin.gif:
Also, awesome pictures, though a bit to dark for me. You mentioned in the OP that the bright red parts of netherrack are supposedly what you want, yet the tools are dark grey. Something fishy is going on if you ask me. :smile.gif:
Dirt can't make anything for a reason, and the same applies for Netherrack.
There's no real point to giving it a use because at one end you have the extreme abundance of it that makes anything useful from it game breaking.
At the other you have the balancing factor that makes such attempts at using it complicated and not worth the time.
Netherrack should be convertible into a more decorative block. Nether Brick would seem the obvious option but that would ruin its novelty and value (and we don't know for sure if Nether Brick is made from Netherrack; they are bricks in the Nether as Nether Warts are warts in the Nether, and can be completely unrelated for all we know).

It'd be near impossible to get enough 100% Netherrack to make a single item, so we're just stopping it at Bloodsteel. Any more and you might have to use the equivalent of a mountain of Netherrack. Perhaps I could make them a bit more brighter, but then again, the Nether is a place of darkness.
@dropdragon: Well, Netherrack is technically a decorative block. It's just ugly (In my opinion), I can't really use it. It fits its purpose as a hellish rock, but not as a pretty pathway. Yes, I do realize I could use a texture pack, but suggestions should be mainly designated to vanilla Minecraft.
@ltcheesecracker: That would be very helpful, though I fear the enchanting portion would be impossible.
Ah yes, another thread that suggests giving an item that already has uses additional uses just for the sake of giving it more uses. Sure, I'd like craftable Nether Brick, but that's about it. Netherrack has more uses than many of the other items in the game do.

I think that this adds unnecessary because think of all the items between netherrack and the final product that have no uses.
Well let's look at paper it had no uses until the map and to make books;Books have no other purpose than to make bookshelves and bookshelves served no purpose(except to look nice) until the enchanting table. So maybe not now but the items in between could be used later.
great idea unfourtanly it wont be added because notch doesnt read these fourms though it could be a mod
Whats with the negativity... even if he doesn't read the forums its a good place to start for a suggestion. And don't say he doesn't listen to the community because I'd have to say Notch listens better than all the other multi-billion dollar gaming industries out there.

Who's to say these items would have no use? Maybe they can be used for nether bricks and stairs and fences. Books have no use other than being made into bookcase.

pro-tip: Nerf everything and change "bloodsteel" into a mine-able ore that is found in the nether, and is smelted into ingots using a furnace.
no more smelt, craft, smelt, craft, smelt, craft, smelt.
I wouldn't feel as accomplished if I did that it's sounds as easy as any other tool but if you have to work for all the resources to make something out of basically **** (and a ton of it) then it's worth something!
Aww, an ore-ist.
(Person who dislikes anything related to mining that is not a new ore that is smelted and crafted)
not really, just suggesting a way to make this process less tedious than it is. It doesn't have to be an ore, but it definitely has to be easier to craft.

I like the idea of adding an ore, maybe this can be done in addition to "smelt, craft, smelt, craft, smelt, craft, smelt" . Like I could find this ore vein and I'll be like "Yes! I don't need 1000 netherrack now, woot!" ^^

It'd be nice to amass enough blocks for a serious construction using these templates. Instead of having fake temples and castles, I could have real fake temples and castles <3

You should add a poll. :smile.gif: But I love the idea of it.Hopefully Notch will add this to the game.

I find this idea partially useless.
