Now now, DSD, go easy on him. It took him all his mental capacity to make a barely grammatically acceptable post
... *sigh* ... Yeah, I know. Just blowing off a little steam. Sometimes, seeing comments like what I responded to, make me feel as if it's not all that fun anymore.
Lately I've been having the thought of just ... dropping off the modding scene and even Minecraft for a while; I'm not sure if I'm able to provide very much of value. Now, I won't say I'm depressed or anything, just a bit weighed down by life. I also know everyone also has their own problems, so I can't very well ask for support when some things in life are quite "up in the air".
Hey, that's alright. Nobody's paying you or anything, you can take a break whenever you want Lord knows I've been away from billions of projects.
I myself am sort of in a habit of listening to people's problems, so I'm sure I'd be able to listen. You don't have to tell me if you don't wanna, but I've found people feel a lot better after telling someone their troubles and if I can do anything to help just hit me up with a PM.

Check out Boats Evolved; the fancy huge customizable boats Notch tweeted about brought to life!
I don't think so... Because if the boat was shot with a fire arrow it would burn and that, what if someone fell of their boat?
Too complicated, sorry but no...

Okay, what is up with this? I see in other suggestions and work-in-progress threads, people making "no support" comments, but when I check the thread-followers list, I don't see their names. So, all they are doing is coming by with a "drive-by disappointment" comment, which adds nothing of value to the thread.
To this poster's credit, at least a potential reason was given; however, that does not mean this situation can be accounted for, and worked-around. I would think, having more people means more hands on the water-buckets, to put out fires. And, "falling off the boat" might not be even an issue, if using a coordinate system localized to a particular vessel where the player(s) are mounted. -- Although, in the former case, I could see adding in an "eject if too much damage" methodology, to prevent character death; and in the latter case, a manual eject option would be a decent idea if the player was *intentionally* trying to get off the boat....
In retrospect, it would have been more of a decent post, had the poster asked "Will you be accounting for X circumstance?" instead of writing it as "No support because Y"....
I though it was a mod idea, not a idea for minecraft
any just a question, how will a player be able to move around the ship while it's moving without falling off?
Pretty sure I've seen a couple YouTube videos with vehicle mods where the guy freely roams on a moving ship. My memory could be failing me though. But I'm sure it's possible...

It is, there are two ways to do it,
the one used in many mods involves creating a private world on the overworld that can move about.
I think that this post was revolutionary because it was so clear and it fit in so well with vanilla minecraft. I was hopeful in 1.6, 1.7 and now 1.8. It seems that they are slowly working to it and I hope that they add it. Until then we have slimeblock boats.
I definitely agree! Support Modular boats! I love the chest idea, and the sails, but let's keep it in the spirit of mine craft and not use and engines. Sails are nice, maybe oars on smaller boats? I think rather than cannons, there should be some sort of mounted crossbow. Maybe I'm wrong but it feels like engines and guns are too modern for mine craft. Oh and don't forget grappling hooks!
PS. I also think that boats should be custom designable, up to a certain size. If anyone's interested PM me and I'll share more details.
Bigger boats seem more fun, but we're looking at lots of collision detection and special mechanics for placing blocks. Alternatively, we could have the ability to build boats block by block, but that will require lots of collision detection as well or be restricted to cardinal directions.
Boy howdy, i love this idea, (i don't know who doesn't). A boat would provide perfect protection from enemies, unless of course... IF THE NEW GUARDIAN MOB CAN SINK YOUR SHIP!!!!?!!

Seriously. Whaddayamean, "too complicated"?

hell if I know, I am not a coder, I know there are two ways, I just don't know them

OMG would I love this!
I have been watching this tread since it was young! no really I had no MC forums account back then and couldn't comment on it so I'm glad I can no!
