So i was reading a suggestion about a swamp over haul and thought what if all biomes could be this unique? it would be awesome! so i put a comment on the post listing a few things i brainstormed on the spot, now i will go into detail about them all.
so without further ado....
heres the first mob (i cant do pics for my life so if someone wants to help me out here please do)
1.The Bison
Biome: the new plains one
Spawn: rare, in large packs of 8-12
Drop: beef (notch's cow beef) or bison meat, bison meat would replenish a lot of hunger, but would have a 7 second eating time as a disadvantage (is a lot of meat!), drops 1-3 for every bison and could be cooked, and/or brown fur, witch could make fur carpets (like snow layer but more decorative)
Behavior: would constantly be on the move in their packs, moving slowly in one direction and staying close together, would be passive, so instead of killing one and moving on, if you attacked one they would all attack you, stampeding twice the speed they were formally moving.
maybe they could also be tamed and used as a pack mule to carry one chest, but couldn't be ridden.
Health: 12 Hearts
Damage: 1.5 hearts with tons of knockback
2. The Road Runner
Biome: desert
Spawn: uncommon but not rare, like wolves, alone of in packs of up to 3
Drop: feathers and/or road runner feet, witch could be combined with any boots to make leather/iron/gold/diamond speed boots, witch would make the player go 1.5x the normal walking speed
Behavior: wouldn't take fall damage, would run away from all mobs but other road runners (including the player) and would run away at 3x the walking speed, so if you want those feet you need arrows!
Health: 2 Hearts
3.Polar Bears
Biome: tundra
Spawn: only on ice or snow (only in the dark?), spawns alone
Drop: some kind of meat, maybe bear meat? in-between beef and bison maybe, and/or white fur, witch could make fur carpets (like snow layer but more decorative)
Behavior: would fight other polar bears if they get too close, but is passive to the player, also would make holes in the ice above squid and seals (they like fishies!)
Health: 12
Damage: 5 hearts with decent knock back
4. Eagles
Biome: mountains
Spawn: only one on every mountain
Drop: wings, could be combined with sticks to make a glider, for gliding of towers or mountains, crafted
= glider wing, then
= glider
= wing
= string
= glider wing
Behavior: can be seen fighting hostile mobs to protect their nests (explained in blocks section) and swooping down eating chickens, is passive unless you come within 5 blocks of its nest
Hearts: 8
Damage: 2, attacks by swooping down on prey (fast attack speed)
5: Sasquatch
Biome: forests
Spawn: rare, and alone
Drops: big hands, witch could be combined with chest armor and sticks to create long reach chest plates (any tier) like this
:Diamond:= any chest plate
= hand
when you wear one of these chest plates you can now reach 5/6 blocks instead of 4! ikr pretty awesome, each sasquatch has a 99% chance of dropping one hand, but you may get lucky and receive two hands (for balancing reasons)
Behavior: cant go into direct sunlight unless attacked, so he needs to be under a tree at all times (so they don't leave the forest) and is hostile towards everything no matter what
Hearts: 15
Damage: has two attacks, first is to punch you, witch does 6 damage (falcoooon punch!) and throwing sticks/logs witch does 2 damage.
6. Arctic Seal
Biome: anywhere with ice
Spawn: under ice, same spawn rate as squid
Drops: seal skin, witch could surround any leggings to make seal legs, witch allow you to swim regular walking speed when worn, could be worn along with speed boots for 1.5x walking speed while swimming, and with grabbing chest to allow normal block breaking speed under water
Behavior: swims to holes in the ice to get air, and sometimes sunbathes on top of ice, is peaceful, and gets eaten by polar bears
Health: 6 hearts
7. Porcupine
Biome: grasslands
Spawn: common
Drops: spikes, spikes could be placed on the ground and act like cactus (just more stealthy) or 5 could be combines with a helmet (3 on top 1 on each side) to make a spiky helmet. These could be used to headbutt mobs that are up to 2 blocks away, this ability would be used by right clicking with anything that doesn't use right click (fist sword pick ax etc) and would do 1.5 hearts, OR you could make reinforced spikes with 4 iron and 1 spikes. These could also be placed but do twice the damage of cactus and could also be added to a helmet. This helmet would do 3 hearts of damage for a headbutt, but that's not all, it could also be used to stick into ceilings! breaking blocks on ceilings would be like breaking blocks in water (same with movement speed). Wearing a grabber chest could negate that, and wearing seal skin legging would negate the moving, also wearing speed boots would make you go 1.5x walking speed (the last two don't make sense, but would be needed for making the armor set)
8.Vulture
Health:4 hearts
Biome:desert
Spawn:Slightly less then common
Area:just above bow range in desert skys,or found perching on cacti(which would not affect them while perching) and high things.
Description:attacks players and mobs below half health and is neutral to everyhting else. When it spots a target it will swoop down fast, hit you for 2 hearts, fly up, pick targets(whichever is at lowest health) and swoop down until all of its targets are healed dead or it dies.
Drop:Big Feather, talon(used as a alternative to flint and feathers in arrows, deals 2X the damge of a normal arrow and goes 1.5x the distance)
Vulture idea made by Bnlol
now onto the blocks!
1. Chalk
Biome: ravines
Use: could be used to make sticks of chalk, witch could be used along with black boards ,witch would be made by surrounding stone with inc sacs, to write very long messages that would need to be right clicked to be read, secondly the chalk sticks could be dyed for different color text
2. Marble
Biome: ravines
Use: building material, and could be split into 4 shards and used as a substitute for flint in arrows
3. Eagle's Nest
Biome: Mountains
Use: would spawn along with an eagle, and would keep the eagle from despawning as long as it wasn't destroyed, would look like a nest with eggs in it, when destroyed you would get 4-5 eggs, sticks and wheat. The use of this is that you could go from mountain to mountain looting nests fr a cake factory
Models! these are gona be crap mostly, cuz im bad at this, but take a look!
bison=
that's all for now! the block section is kinda lacking so help me out there!
If you noticed, these all give biomes reasons to travel to them, such as the ultamint armor set (arctic, grasslands, desert, and forest) food surpluses (plains) pack mules (plains) gliders (mountains) lots of cake and feathers (mountains)decorating floors (plains and tundra) or writing huge messages and getting new building materials (ravines((stone quarries in my mind)) they all get good reasons to explore.
Leave your ideas and constructive criticism in the comments and keep in mind this took me a lot of time and effort to make! o and if any one could make me models/banners or tell me how to that would be great! also if this topic gets enough support someone who knows how post it on get satisfaction!
P.S. i give modders full permission to make this a mod, as long as you put a link to this saying something like "this mod was originally this suggestion by kindowg" so everyone knows how beast my mind is!
I have an idea for a mob:
Name:vulchure
Health:4 hearts
Biome:desert
Spawn:Slightly less then common
Area:just above bow range in desert skys,or found perching on cacti(which would not affect them while perching) and high things.
Description:attacks players and mobs below half health and is neutral to everyhting else. When it spots a target it will swoop down fast, hit you for 2 hearts, fly up, pick targets(whichever is at lowest health) and swoop down until all of its targets are healed dead or it dies.

hmmm i like it, how about it drops big feathers too? and you could use big feathers and talons to made vulture arrows, witch go 1.5x the distance and do 2x the damage! adding that now

Have in mind that there's so much to add to this game, that suggestions need to add a minimum of overall gameplay value for the devs to consider them. Most of your suggestions don't and some do but are OP. (Gliders are a neat idea, but their use is rather limited for most players, it could be a nice way to enter ravines though.)
Some of your suggestions seem ok enough, I'd like to see some new animals that spawn depending on the biome. Also, I think your Bison knockback should be considered. Imagine an animal that knocks you back if you get too close (not just if you've attacked it). Wouldn't be too hard to design either, and it actually adds a lot of gameplay value in terms of expectations whenever you see one.
Imagine getting too close to a bison and it knocks you back into a ravine or something - makes you think twice about messing with them if there's dangerous terrain around. One way to prevent the knockback could be to sneak towards/away from the animal, and standing still should be safe (or else they can accidentally walk up to you and knock you back from behind, if you're not careful).

ya then imagine a whole heard of bison knocking you back as you run away like crazy, then fall in a cave, then get blown up by , also what parts are op? i will consider changing them
edit: i didnt want them attacking you if you got close, only if you attacked one, then they would stampede you
I see you based the road runner on the looney toons version, not the real version. If you see a real road runner running, chances are it's chasing something, not being chased. Those things are vicious.
I'm kind of meh on this, all of the items you get from the mobs do generic things like longer reach or faster run/swim speed.

Hey bro, that swamp overhaul was mine. I'm compiling tons of mob / block suggestions as well as making my own, some mobs done from scratch in Techne and building environments in the game.
I have no problem with both of us making similar things, but that swamp overhaul was done with the thought that all of the other biomes would be "overhauled" in the future. Just letting you know.
ik, thats what i was thinking when i made this thread, notice how none of my mobs are for swamps? exactly. personly if i was notch i would go thru all these biome suggestions and add the good ones, seeing how he wants to expand biomes, i thought that if i could get people thinking with one or 2 new mobs a biome, there would be more threads like yours, and someone would post on get satisfaction, and mojang wound notice, and aculy add to the game! ik ik, im an evil mastermind >:smile.gif:

and feel free to use any of the mobs you see here in future posts, as mine dont catch on very well no matter what, and the swamp one caught on fast. plus i think if that swamp gets popular enough, you should post it on get satisfaction, along with any other biome overhauls you may have, beacuse if all biomes were different and fun, the game would be like 9x better
