Heyho !
I surfed a bit on the Wiki and found that Air is called as a Block. We have liquid, solid but not exactly vaporous (i hope google translator didn't tell me a lie).
So we may need some other "Air"-"Blocks" ( :biggrin.gif: ) .
I don't know exactly gases which exist but there may be some other ones.
For those gases we also need
Toxic gas:
Found near lava, sulfur (new block ! hurray :biggrin.gif: ),caves and dungeons.
Helium (by Strottinglemon) :
If airships are officially implemented. If consumed your usual OOF damage sound would be changed to a hilarious higher pitched version for a short period of time. Captured in balloons, made with four leather in a square.
At the moment,i can't imagine other ones.
Please post your ideas.

Ladies and gentlemen, Hell has frozen over, and Satan is putting on ice skating shows for charity.
Wait, if the Aether is going to be released, heaven doesn't really contain enough oxygen to breathe. So does that mean Minecraftians don't need oxygen to breathe? Just a question.

So you've been to heaven and tested its atmosphere for oxygen content?

NO. Don't click New Thread. Read the rules. I don't give a damn how long or boring they are. If you do not, you will be subject to massive flaming and criticism by yours truly.
Toxic gases should be like when the player is under water, you have a limited amount of air bubbles before you inhale poison, and if you inhale any, if you get out of that gas cloud, you have a smaller nuber of darker bubbles, you take damage untill they run out. I geuss this means you can only stay in the nether for a short time though, considering these gases can leak from lava... also, you should check out this topic and talk about it with the creator to combine these two topics: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/104293-mob-concept-shallowbreath/

No, no. I was just thinking if the Aether is actually a sort of floating island, and on the thread they had an idea where when you fall off, you land on the highest block of the original world, and fall to your death. So that would mean that the Aether is higher up than Minecraft, and which would mean the oxygen is significantly thinner, since the Aether is not visible while on the surface.

Oh, okay. That's better. In that case, IDK. If you couldn't survive without some sort of oxygen tank that'd be really annoying.

So...This toxic gas leaks from lava and magically ends up in all the water? :huh.gif:
And why would he combine two unrelated topics? This is about gases in Minecraft. The other is a mob idea.
Incidentally, I don't support most gases in Minecraft.
Hypothetical: You read a thread in the Suggestions forum. You suddenly realize you've seen the idea before. Maybe it's a duplicate? No. Maybe it's just you? No. Maybe it's been done already? Very likely: Click here if there's a mod for that.

No, how did you get that idea? the way you breath is like in water, but... I'm sorry if that was unclear, I'm not sure i can simplify it anymore, my brain works on a slightly complicated scale... I go too big on everything. and as for the other topic, the mob is a ball of gass... it kind of has alot to do with the other.

I got it. My brain gets muddled after a night of insomnia. And they're still not related. This isn't about animated gas creatures :tongue.gif:
I'd support some sort of suffocating gas in the Nether or in the lowest layers of the map. Beyond that, it just gets unnecessary and no fun.

The Sky Dimension isn't *that* high. It's just over the cloud layer. You wouldn't run out of air.

Then once the Aether is out, Notch should add a faint image of the Aether, to show it's not that high of an altitude.
Well, that would make a lot of people unhappy. For example, many people think the Nether is below bedrock but a lot of other people think it is somewhere else, another dimension, since every block you walk in the Nether counts as 9 or something in the Tether. The same could apply to the Aether. Some would believe it's another dimension instead of directly above your head.

But according to the thread, if you fall into oblivion in the Aether, you'd return to the original world, and fall to your death, unless you fall into an ocean, or something. This sort of hints that the Ather is above Minecraft. It's going to be challenging to clear that up, if it is a differing dimension.

The Aether is not actually going to be offically added. A similar place is being made called the sky dimension, but it's not the Aether. That's a seperate mod in developement.
