If you could combine 2 workbenches in the same way as you combine 2 chests you should extend the craftingfield. This will make you being able to craft more advanced items like Hangliders, Crossbows etc.

I like where you are going with this.

Would give us access to creating many more items. However, I do believe this has been suggested before, but not something that should be over-looked.

If it has to be made in a bigger square then 3x3, it shouldn't be added in my opinion.
