but on server side shouldn't this be possible? all the server application needs to do is to handle loaded chunks, player location, mob activity, redstone, changes to block states and read and writes to the save file. If Microsoft/Mojang does not intend on phasing out Java edition, then I'd like them to at least do content parity and make Java servers cross compatible with bedrock edition client, not just community ones like Hive or Lifeboat, but general player made ones.
I agree with your suggestion though, bedrock edition should have achievements per world like Java edition has now. But this would mean every time you started a new world you start your achievements start from scratch. How would this be handled in the case of existing worlds?
Spectator mode, hardcore mode, amplified worlds, custom worlds etc, those are the types of updates that bedrock edition could benefit from.
In fact with custom worlds having a separate set of achievements per world makes even more sense in this case.
People would know how exactly you're getting these achievements but it wouldn't ruin the Xbox Live achievement system, since each set of achievements would be linked to that one world you were playing on.
This way if players wish to play with default world types later on, those achievements have to be earned again.
It gives players the opportunity of a fresh start if they cheated and wish to do it again properly in a different world.
There are some major things that are in java and not in bedrock, and vice versa. Such as:
Bedrock doesn't have spectator mode,
Bedrock doesn't have enchantments that go beyond the level obtainable in survival
Bedrock doesn't have hardcore
Java doesn't have an easy multiplayer system, you need a server
Bedrock doesn't have achievements for each world, Java does
Java also doesn't have crossplay on consoles
