You should add reaching enchantment up to level 3, each level increases player's reach by 1 block (Can't be used against other players, otherwise too OP).
This seems like a pretty good idea- and I don't see why it couldn't be used against other players. Sure, it might be difficult to hit a player with a wider range than you, but it's not going to help with any number of offense strategies- such as, say, a bow and arrows. This could also be sort of useful for tools.
I disagree, I think this is incredibly overpowered, especially outside PvP. The player is already ridiculously strong against basically every single melee mob. A decent player could be facing a hundred zombies and be totally unarmed and as long as they have space to move around they can slowly punch them all to death while kiting them in a circle. The current range of a melee attack is what... 2 blocks currently? At 5 blocks with level 3 of the enchantment it removes what little risk there was of Zombies, Spiders are basically no longer a threat and I don't even think Creepers could get close enough to explode (if they do, you are far enough that it's an easy escape).
It even reduces risks from ranged mobs, which are also fairly easy to deal with using melee attacks as-is. More range means less distance traveled to get in range which means you can attack sooner and have more space to dodge their attacks.

having an extended reach wouldn't be good in survival play because it would mean you'd end up breaking far away structures by accident
think of the fact that if you built a greenhouse, and are farming sugar cane, bamboo and what have you inside of it,
having an extended reach would mean you'd end up breaking glass by accident more often.
Also in Minecraft we already have an unrealistically long reach, we can reach, place, break and destroy blocks that are more than double our character height above us.
And as Badprenup said, this would also be OP in survival against enemy mobs, being able to reach further would mean you could attack monsters before they get within striking distance of you, so would make you practically invincible, at this point even a Creeper wouldn't harm you, no armour damage, no hearts taken, not even a crater left.
In summary although no offence intended, this is a bad suggestion imo,
annoying for building and farming
OP for fighting monsters
it's every players worst nightmare as far as Minecraft goes.

Exactly.
Also, that'd mean more abusable killholes in bunkers.
