IMO scorpions are too similar to cave spiders in that form - mobile arthropods with poisonous melee bite.
They could either cause weakness with their stings and be a neutral daylight creature of Mesas or a hostile End creature that literally shoots poisonous spikes out of its stinger.
Additionally, the scorpion should have an useful rare drop - I think of a stinger working as replacement for lingering potion of weakness in terms of crafting arrows of weakness or in case of shooting kind from the End to have it as a ranged weapon with either no ammo needed and very restricted durability or normal durability and use up spikes being a common drop from scorpions.

Totalitarian architecture. Angular, defensible masonry over sleek, sloped carpentry.
Taking it slow. Provoking into attack typically does better rushing.
Underground engineering. Well-lit tunnels are much safer and often cheaper than any surface construct.
Farmability. One of primary concerns relating to any feature.
Practical mobs. No annoyances taking up space and processor power.
Generalism and simplicity. Overly complicated and specialized concepts hardly ever come into fruition.
