The Cave Update so far it's incredible and sprinkled our mind with Ideas, It's been days thinking about it and I want to help by asking what would be a new type of cave that we the players would love to see, these are some Idea based on real caves and biomes already present in the game
Crystal Caves: an extremely rare cave present in the world, like the Naica's Cave in Mexico
Ice Spike Cave: I really like the Ice cave Biome and love to see a harsh cave type where we have slippery ice, ice-covered water and stray skeletons
Mushroom Cave: like the Mushroom fields biome but I think It would be really a magical place within a cave, mushrooms are already present in caves and are known to survive everywhere, plus it may be the place where we can find brown mooshrooms spawned naturally (normally we have to see one struck by lightning)
What do you think about that? I would love to see what's your Ideas, I'm thrilled to know what may see in the game in the 1.17 update!
I personaly would love to see the lava caves/ravines have some decoration around the lava like magma blocks on the wall where lava touches the stone and some of the magma could extend a bit further about 1-2 blocks to make ti look like there was once lava there. Maybe basalt could also generate too somewhere on the walls.
Mushroom caves feel sort of Nethery- the Ice Caves sound pretty cool. (No pun intended.) Currently it seems like the cave biomes aren't really effected by whatever's above them. I feel like this makes some sense as a development choice- and it'd no doubt be cool to find some lush caverns deep beneath a barren wasteland- but it's also something of a missed opportunity. I know with Quark's enhanced caves they added a lot of stuff like this- though it's largely unnoticed without further mods for enhanced cave generation. Ice caves would be cool, and could also provide some interesting challenges and opportunities. (I can't help but think of Spelunky- in which the Ice caves have an infuriating combination of slippery surfaces and long falls.) I could also see Sand caverns, perhaps with sinking sand or some other sort of hidden dangers?
Crystal Caves could work too- maybe like extra large variants of the existing Amethyst geodes with some unique crystal pillars of some sort.
You should research the cristal cave in dark souls, that's really something majestic
Now that I think about that something like a sinking sand cavern and ice ones would really create stories on how the terrain was aeons ago in the current biome

maybe too similar to basalt deltas...
I would love some vulcanic sites actually
Here an interesting video about some of the most amazing caves in the world
I don't feel like mushroom caves would feel Nethery, but I catch the feeling
You can see those kinds of caves in a lot of games, and personally I really like the vibe
It's kinda magical and sometimes claustrophobic, I would really appreciate it

I think it would be majestic as some kind of underground river variation of some sorts
