I'm just going to say it now. How has the Minecraft team not thought of this yet? Every update adds an endangered species or spreads awareness to something that needs it, right?
How has Mojang not done anything for the Amazon Rainforest?
The Amazon Rainforest is home to over 3 million different species of plants and animals. Every day about 137 species are driven towards extinction.
With our achievement of 20% of the Amazon Rainforest being completely gone, it's only a matter of time before it gets out of hand. Yes, I know Mojang just went all out with the cave update releasing this summer of 2021, but I'm not saying to go for it this update. They could save it as it's very own update such as, "Amazon Awareness Update" or something like that, where they just go for adding some of the many plants and animals that inhabit those forests.
How exactly would you add a rainforest to Minecraft?
Well it would be similar to the jungle but more aimed at the overgrowth of the treetops and the ground foliage/plants.
It would be a somewhat large yet rare biome, kind of like the dark oak forests we have currently but the treetops would be much higher, along with the ground cover being extremely high. The treetops could be littered in bird nests and new bird types, which would finally add the sky life Minecraft has been missing. (Yes, I know there are Parrots, but that's only one type of bird and it's only found in the jungle)
I did a little bit of concept art for what could be! I know some of it is very crude, so just know it is very basic concept art.
I'm not a Minecraft developer so trying to imagine how this would even be started is way out of my sightline.
If you do think this would be a nice update head over to the Minecraft forum to vote!
Yes, Rainforest loss is certainly an important topic- but just gameplaywise, I don't think a new biome would be all that distinguishable from the existing jungles and jungle variants. Mojang already does a lot for environmental awareness, and this seems like it would be a little much.
Do you really think so? Personally I think the jungles are kind of just an obstacle that you have to try and pass through, to get to the other side. They don't have much specialty to them. Yea there is jungle wood and parrots, maybe there is a super rare structure, but they are lacking quite a bit when it comes to being a jungle.

Maybe this would make more sense as a jungle update then, I'd agree that current jungles are kinda useless so maybe they could add these in a jungle rework. I'd imagine they're going to do that eventually anyway since they seem to have plans to rework a lot of the current biomes. I like the idea of adding a new crop with bananas but I'd hope that they're more useful than beets.
That seems probable. And BTW do you not know how amazing bananas are?! They are totally the most healthy and filling fruit of all time! They would be like apples but easy to get!
Jungles could use an update- if not a new biome. You could get bananas from jungle leaves, and maybe use them with apples to create new foodstuffs. Perhaps dangerous new jungle flora could be used to craft special potions. New types of monkeys, maybe red pandas for the bamboo forests? There could even be a mossy-stone version of the nether fortress crumbled and unique to jungles. ...Yeah, there is a lot of potential there that I never really thought about.

I love bananas but I don't know if minecraft really needs them, they might be useful if you spawn in a jungle but I can't see myself seeking them out specifically with all the other food options we already have.

I saw that Lady Agnes liked a Tweet about using gaming to fight climate change so I'm pretty sure the developers would agree with this suggestion
