I think that when you swim in water with iron armor on it starts to rust. If it rusts to much you slow down, but you can remove the rust by using the grind stone. I think this will add a nice interesting and realistic feature to the game. Thanks
True, and I don't want the hole game realistic because then the game wouldn't be fun. I just thought rust on iron armor would look cool
It slows the player down, so it would be purely an annoyance.

Dwarf gamer found:
Buildings - square, not round
Materials - from rubble mound
Dark caves - lit 'n' cleaned out
Settlements - deep underground
Farmability - to grinder bound
Shields - made creepers but sound
Axes and crossbows - taking mobs out
This idea would do fine for an expert mode of the game if it were introduced.
But in the current game, below hardcore difficulty? nah. YeahSoUhh makes a good point here, the rust aesthetic would be welcome, but not the punishing aspects of it because otherwise it would essentially make the armour useless for a large portion of Overworld exploration.
It's bad enough that they can be damaged or break just by being hit by mobs or environmental hazards like burning.
We don't need yet another annoyance which would make the game grindy, thanks.

Hmm, personally I think that would be a bit of a grind.
If you want more realism then it might as well make you sink to the bottom of the water when you wear iron or above.lol

Maybe the rust effect could be avoided if you used honey as wax just like with copper. That would be cool and give another use for honey
The aesthetic of the rust would be fine on its own, but having it slow you down makes no sense.
