So I noticed that crafting tables, your inventory, and all types of furnaces have recipe books. I thought that maybe brewing stands should have a recipe book for potions. Idk think it is a good idea but you tell me on the poll.
...I feel kind of neutral on the whole matter. It's sort of a sign of a bigger tendency- at one point, there were few enough recipes that players could learn and memorize them with relative ease- or figure them out through experimentation, as many of these recipes were and still are fairly intuitive. As more content has been added in recent years, recipe books have been necessary to give players some idea as to how to craft new content, as well as to help newer players, and facilitate modded recipes.
Potions haven't really been changed at all throughout these updates, whereas new recipes have been added in other areas of the game. In addition, (and this may just be speculation on my part), Mojang at one point wanted to have a semi-procedural potions system that would force players to experiment, but eventually decided this was too complicated to implement- (Hence we have several base level potions that don't actually do anything.)
...A recipe book for potions would certainly be useful, half the time I don't remember the recipes myself- but then again, it doesn't seem strictly necessary.
