Hey, I've got a pretty good idea after watching a youtuber named Mumbo Jumbo play Minecraft with chains that pull and push what they're attached to, but it's never really mentioned that the chains only stick to what they're "attached to". Then I got an idea of directional slime blocks. I've added an image of what the directional slime Block could be. The directional slime Block sticks to only 2 sides at once, for example, the top and the bottom. The possibilities of the different directions are pretty simple. Top and bottom, left and right, front and back. It's pretty useful for redstone machinery for example, and can look pretty cool in some builds. I'm a redstone engineer myself, and I don't know how many times I've reduced the efficiency of my farms just because slime sticks to blocks on every side. It's a small addition, But it would change the redstone experience.
Dwarf gamer found:
Buildings - square, not round
Materials - from rubble mound
Dark caves - lit 'n' cleaned out
Settlements - deep underground
Farmability - to grinder bound
Shields - made creepers but sound
Axes and crossbows - taking mobs out
Rather than a directional slime block, I'd rather have some sort of "frame" that you can fit over any side of a slime block that makes it not stick to anything on that side of the block (including other slime/honey blocks). That'd add a lot more possibilities.

Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.

We've needed something like this for a long time. Although things involving the sticking mechanic have gotten better with the addition of Honey Blocks, I still believe there is room for expansion. Support.
Attachable chains really seems like a more intuitive and understandable way of having this.
I agree. Chains could probably receive a fairly simple recipe, possibly even including Slime, to create Sticky Chains or Hooked Chains or something. That also creates a level of investment since this suggestion would be a pretty niche but powerful tool, so it should be reasonably expensive.
but the underlying idea of a sticky directional block? I like it

Constantly evolving, reaching further heights.
