For a long time Redstone engineers have wanted a substance like Redstone dust that doesn’t connect to plain Redstone wire “blue stone dust” Being a common name for The concept. I believe the idea of copper wire or copper dust could be A good idea for a extra use for Copper. Using the same concept as “blue stone dust”

If you want a wire, it would be a copper cable.
In my opinion we should instead have an option to create copper cables/bars and then have option to infuse them with redstone and let it float or act separately from regular redstone dust.
Alternatively, we could get copper barbed wire that could slow entities down or even damage them when powered, but needing much more dust per block, making them cost-ineffective, but highly versatile - they could act not just as separate lines or pole cables, but also as electric fence.
But copper by itself replacing redstone? I think not.

Dwarf gamer found:
Buildings - square, not round
Materials - from rubble mound
Dark caves - lit 'n' cleaned out
Settlements - deep underground
Farmability - to grinder bound
Shields - made creepers but sound
Axes and crossbows - taking mobs out

I made a suggestion a little while ago to have just this. My idea was for it to 'weaken' the stone in the Deep Dark in order to mine and/or harvest it.
The devs have ruled out bluestone, but perhaps copper could be combined with Redstone (meaning it would connect to redstone circuits) to create different parts. For instance, perhaps Copper, Redstone, and maybe Wool or Leather could be combined to create Redstone Cord, which unlike raw Redstone is horizontally directional and thus will not transmit a Redstone signal except at its ends (similar to how a Repeater works now, but without the ability to delay, amplify, or lock signals). Essentially, they'd create a way to direct signals without secondary effects granted by a repeater, which would be very useful in Redstone contraptions

Looks like Mojang is not liking idea of secondary redstone at all
