Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong area. I've never used the forums before.
I feel like a lot of people are upset that the glow squid won the mob vote because they believe it'll just be a retextured squid, so I wanted to make a collection of ideas for the mob to give people something to look forward to.
1) Green Glow Squid - What if, like the brown panda, the blue glow squid had an even rarer green glow squid variant.
2) Breeding - They could add a squid breading mechanic using fish and two glow squids could have a small chance to give birth to a green glow squid.
3) Glow Sacs - The glow squid could drop "glow sacs" which could be used for...
..a. Glow Torch - A new torch variant that would grow green instead of orange or blue. these torches could also be placed underwater and would ward off drowned.
..b. Potion of Hypnosis - The potion could pacify mobs/players and take away their ability to move. The potion would also distort their vision but would wear off as soon as they take any damage.
..c. Inkstone - A lighting block similar to Redstone ore. The block would look similar to a cool-toned Blackstone but would shine as bright as glowstone when stepped on. Also, when lit, It would also glow green fire and will stay lit forever.
..d. Glowing Armor - Adding glow ink to a pre-dyed leather armor will allow it to glow like the eyes of an enderman. I feel like this idea might be too much but is more do-able than creating a new neon variant of every dye color.
4) Calamari - Squids could drop "raw squid" which could be cooked into "calamari." This would give another incentive for squid farms.
How do you feel about these ideas? and do you think anything else should be added to the list?
I couldn't care less about the "green glow squid".
If it drops ink that can be made into underwater torches, that would be cool and go some ways to justifying the mob's existence. However, I don't think this is on the table. I recall hearing that "glow ink" was explicitly denied.
So the Potion of Hypnosis would be a combination of Slowness and Nausea?
The inkstone doesn't register with me. The glowing leather armor is perhaps mildly interesting.
Calamari would make squid more attractive, but not glow squids in particular.

1/2. Not really attractive concepts, they don't really bring anything new except visuals
3. Glow-Sack on its own overlaps with Glow-Stone quite a lot.
A - No. This would take away the role of Sea Pickles
B - No. I bet it would be spammed in PvP to immobilize players and trap them in holes or walls and proceed to kill very quickly with explosives or lava. Too abusable potion.
C - Though I doubt I'd ever use it, I'm not really against it. Sounds OK, not unbalanced, might find a niche among decorators.
D - Quite a lot of work, but a single glowing type of armorpiece might have some use...
4. Sounds good.
Dwarf gamer found:
Buildings - square, not round
Materials - from rubble mound
Dark caves - lit 'n' cleaned out
Settlements - deep underground
Farmability - to grinder bound
Shields - made creepers but sound
Axes and crossbows - taking mobs out
Iceologer seems to be just another pillager type so I'm not that excited anyways.
And the glow squid is just another ocean mob, and i don't like the ocean too.
You may have chosen between a new adversary with new combat mechanic, an agriculture buffer and something that moves and shines underwater with mundane drops at the moment.

I personally think the only thing that will come out from the glow squid will be a glowing Ink sac that will add another tier of blocks to the game that is to be used to make a variety of glowing colored sources of emitted light. It possible the glass block will be that block that will receive another tier of blocks that can be crafted out from the glowing ink sac this new extremely rare item that will have a 40% drop rate from the mysterious glow squid. Now according to my opinion this new tier of glowing blocks possibilities will be the only thing that possibly can come out from the Glow Squid that will be any actual use and interest to the majority people who play this. With this idea we all win.
1) Glowing Stained Glass Blocks - A new tier of Stained Glass Blocks that will give off a nice warm glowing effect based on the type of glowing colored dye that was used in the glass block crafting recipe. Note: In order to craft glowing colored dye you must combine the Colored Dye of your choice with the Glowing Ink Sac to obtain this new item involved in crafting this new tier of Glass Blocks.

Umm, light has no colors in minecraft
Try putting a glowstone behind dyed glass, while glowstone itself will seem dyed, the light on the floor around it will be white-ish

Personal thoughts - one of two options:
A - your proposal after my modifications, with additional option to synthesize glowstone out of nether quartz, gold nuggets and glow sacks;
B - https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/minecraft-java-edition/suggestions/3037482-the-glow-squid-should-be-themed-around-xp-heres

Glowing die would be nice, just as long as itsnot just a mob that floats around.
Phantoms do more than just be a mob tho, so im sure they understand that glow squids should follow the same rules
I honestly don't even like the choices we got.
Bee cows? I don't even like bees to begin with...
