Hello! This is just a quick bit of feedback I'm giving for Minecraft, and for people suggesting things. It won't really go too in depth on things, or give a whole ton of details.
So, usually I see a lot of people suggesting a new generated structure, like a new dungeon, or a new mob, or something like that. And the drops or loot you get? Well... Slimeballs, Leather, Clay, Iron, Diamonds, Gold, Rotten Flesh, you get the idea. Reused items for new generated structure loot and mob drops. I think that if these things were to be added, they need really unique loot. A new sword that can decapitate undead mobs. A slingshot that can shoot different items. A bait that can be placed down and attracts zombies. The oppurtunites are endless, I just think that new features shouldn't reuse the same items over, and over, and over again.

Hey guys I'm James, I used to be a noob but now I'm not, I finally figured out how to use TextCraft so here's a banner for one of my suggestions.
I suggested daggers which is a craftable weapon which can be enchanted with loyalty to return to the players when thrown.
and there's lots of different things that could be added, somebody else suggested adding silver, to deal with werewolves which would be fantastic, I also said to him (or her) perhaps we could have this as an effective material for a weapon against vampires too.
Spears could be added, crafted using wood, but would be used for jousting (a PVP event) as well as dealing with hostile mobs featuring big knockback effect. Based on a suggestion a friend of mine made which is cool. It would be fun jousting with friends, with the right mechanics this could work, the shield could be used to deflect the spear to prevent being knocked off your horse by your opponent.
Javelin would also be made using wood, but this object can be thrown at a great distance and deal damage to mobs.
But this would be primarily used for hunting, and would 1 hit kill sheep, cows, pigs or the like. But this object could also be used for Olympics competitions in custom built stadiums.
I agree with you. The game doesn't have enough variety of loot and that needs to change.
Because the vanilla game doesn't have enough content we are left asking Mojang for more.
The game still doesn't feel complete at the moment, it feels beta-ish.
...Yeah, more loot would be nice- or at least encourage more exploration. At the same time, there is something to be said for enchanted books, chain mail, rare materials, etc. If new artifacts or special equipment was implemented, it would have to be fairly rare, and/or significantly different from other existing items to make it worthwhile. (Dimension specific equipment/weapons? Mob themed Armour? Weapons involving combinations of existing materials, or otherwise uncraftable materials such as emeralds or lapiz; and yes, I know it's cliche- but boomerangs?) I don't really see this as a necessity- but a little bit more variety in rare equipment would be a welcome change.

To be fair, mostly everything (if not EVERYTHING) suggested so far has something equivalent in game, or is otherwise unnecessarily unique. Silver could be an enchantment "Silverblade"; sword decapitating undead, we have Smite for that; I don't really see the huge benefit to a slingshot; javelin is literally just a craftable trident, which is intentionally a monster-drop only; boomerangs and daggers and seem pointless, crossbows, bows, and tridents are more than enough; etc.
Also, a new generated structure does not necessarily need new loot to go with it. I can imagine various different structures that could be added or revamped, but don't really need new loot to feel special. If a new generated structure is just an excuse for new loot, then why bother with the new structure? Someone once said that buildings had some kind of tutorial involving some of the more obscure mechanics (redstone, TNT, Nether Portal) and I'd like to think that true and that it should be upheld.

if the spear were used specifically for jousting only, then it would be called a lance, mind you.
but items should have some versatility, otherwise it gives them less of a reason to exist in the game imo.

I think sports equipment would massively improve the PVP aspect.
Not all PVP has to be about griefing, even non anarchy servers can have PVP sessions in arenas where players participate for competitive events.
I think Olympics and jousting is a great place to start and this shouldn't just be a mods only type of thing in my opinion.
