Minecraft has introduced new biome votes, which have so far updates the Taiga and soon to be Mountains. The most recent 1.16 update has also updated the Nether Dimension. Sure, I like new additions as much as the next guy, but these updates are still really bland in my opinion. We don't just need 2 new mobs, some new plants and a few new blocks with maybe a generated structure or 2. What we need is total revamps of biomes. Tons of new mobs, tons of new generated structures. Change the way biomes work change the way they spawn next to each other. Change the sizes of biomes add in more transitional biomes, change the height of biomes ect..... Same goes with the Nether. A dimension needs way more than 5 biomes, a few mobs and a few structures.

Hey guys I'm James, I used to be a noob but now I'm not, I finally figured out how to use TextCraft so here's a banner for one of my suggestions.
These two aren't mutually exclusive and often go hand-in-hand. That said, I don't think it's reasonable to expect these kinds of massive updates in short order instead of smaller updates over time, nor do I think they're completely necessary. The Nether update, for example, was fine IMO--while I wouldn't mind an extra biome or two, I don't think it's necessary. There is such a thing as having too much going on, ya know. That's really my take on a lot of this kind of stuff, including what you describe--I'm not opposed, but I also don't think it's completely necessary.
That said, I do think terrain generation needs a considerable overhaul. Jeracraft did a good example of what it could be like. Also, I think we could stand to have a little more variation in tree form and variety, which fortunately does seem to be on the way with Baobab and Mangrove trees (I think Sakura trees and Eucalyptus are two others we should see added as well). Those two alone would considerably change how the world feels.
I also wouldn't be opposed to a mob spawning pass, with an emphasis on making hostile mobs a little more biome specific... i.e. maybe Creepers only really spawn in wooded regions (forests, jungles, etc), while Skeletons only really spawn in dry biomes, with Zombies and Pillagers taking over as the "default" hostile mobs. Same for passive mobs--a little more biome specificity in passive mob spawning would be nice.
Minecraft would improve massively just by adding in Twilight Forest officially, as a new dimension.
It's probably not going to happen, but it would be nice and would give players more things to do with the game.
There's tons of more mobs, different biomes and structures to find within that mod, and all you need to go to that dimension is 1 diamond, a 2 by 2 hole of water and flowers around it.

You need to wipe those hearts from your eyes man. There's a reason why mods are mods. Just because they're good doesn't mean they belong in everyone's vanilla game. That's just not how proper game design works.

"Probably" is still too strong a word. Not trying to be mean here.

Sometimes concepts from mods get used in Minecraft vanilla, remember the piston and stained glass? I don't recall you having any expertise on game design either, but you seem to ignore the fact that some of the content in this game were once mods only.
I agree that they should tweak world generation. But I think they should make more things that give us things to do. Because after the enderdragon it gets really boring, so I think a dungeons/quests update would be cool. But I don't think they should add 500 new generated structures and mobs.

I think quests could be implemented via Villagers. I'm not sure how much I'd actually like them--it's something that I think the devs could do like as an experimental snapshot and see how it feels... but you know, it could be something like "Kill X Zombies for Y Emeralds," or something. My only hesitation is that it'd be rather redundant considering achievements & trading--they could honestly just implement Achievements/Advancement into the game itself as a system associated with the Villagers that you're rewarded for, rather than just a catalog of "hey you did this." It'd certainly add some incentive to chase after Achievements/Advancements.
Also honestly, yeah, while I don't think we need 20 new dungeons or whatever, I think most "special" biomes should have one--like, Badlands, revamped Mountains (whenever that happens), Ice Spikes, etc. The Jungle Temple and Desert Temple honestly need reworked, too
I would really love to see Twilight Forest and Betweenlands worldgen in vanilla. I happen to disagree with the idea that TW is a good mod, but I do love how their world generates. Betweenlands is next-level next-levelness, though.

This just seems like an "I want" thread disguised as a "we need" thread.
