I think more food items would be great, especially since we now have honey. Yes we already have a lot of edibles, but not many that are substantial like pumpkin pie. More substantial options would be refreshing IMO.
and so what if a chocolate bars don't enhance gameplay neither does llamas, parrots, carpet or making your armour different colours.
Uhhhhh..?? Those are some bad comparisons dude. Everything you listed offers something with at least a hint of originality. Adding more food is just throwing in more sprites that do what the other food sprites do.
A lot of those food ideas are kind of goofy. The hot chocolate and chocolate bar are plausible, but are repetitive at this point in terms of food in general. Why did you say "don't you need to eat food in order to survive???"?

More food items would be nice - but only if they do something, ANYTHING. As others have said, there's no point adding just MORE FOOD ITEMS THAT NO ONE EATS. Some of these would be nice for rps, but unless they have some kind of bonus, like giving you an effect, or gimmick, like taking longer to eat.. No.
the ingredients are already there how about putting these in the game?
meat from pigs + egg +bread = bacon and egg sandwiches
bread + campfire = toast + egg = egg on toast
bread + honey = honey bread
cocoa beans + terracotta / clay = mug of hot chocolate
cocoa beans + milk = chocolate bar
beef / pork + potatoes + carrots = pies
just a few ideas as I think my character is getting sick of cake and pumpkin pie
No Supporu
As I've said on many other threads, Minecraft has too many foods which nobody eats.
My suggestions: Enhancements - Throwable Fire Charges - On Phantoms and Elytra. Also check out The Minecraftian Language. This signature is not here to waste your space.
Minecraft is a survival game before anything else. I don't think adding chocolate bars would really enhance gameplay.
Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.

Who's that behind you?
