I searched for this suggestion, but found nothing that suggests only Name Tag recipes or gave any details on the recipes. So I made this thread.
As of now, Name Tags can only be obtained via dungeon chests, Creative mode, or inventory editing. Personally, I feel that going through the trouble of finding one of the extremely rare dungeons just for an aesthetic addition is ridiculous. Therefore, I feel that the Name Tags should have a crafting recipe. It wouldn't be too difficult to craft one, since all it does it add a name to mobs you use it on. Note that you could still find Name Tags in dungeon chests, for players who don't want to spend their materials on naming their pets.
Here's how I think they should be crafted:
The fact of the matter is that on an average SMP world, one can find stacks of nametags without much effort at all. I encounter at least four or five dungeon's each day just doing my strip mining. Nametags are a commodity and making them craftable would greatly restrict some server economies. On single player, just stop being lazy and spend a day or two hunting for dungeons. shrug.
I've found over half a dozen name tags in one game without entering a dungeon, being on creative mode or anything else. two were found in a chest in raider villages and the others were found in zombie villages where the houses have spider webs over them.
