They would look cool, but there's really no need if we look at how many blocks there are at producing light. Take for example a Torch, way easier to craft than getting sand, cobblestone to smelt the sand into glass because you need a furnace (+ you need coal or log to smelt anything), then make a glass bottle, then go out and find a firefly, and catch it.
Also, bees were just added. We are good for flying mobs at the moment.

And using a Glass Bottle You can catch them and use them as a light source block.
