Why have dog lovers been ignored when it comes to tamed animal variations?
- Cats have a lot of variations (fur pattern and color)
- Fish cant be tamed but they are like pets and have a TON of variations (color, pattern, and shape)
- Parrots have a few variations (color)
- Lamas have a lot of variations
- Horses have a lot (im putting donkeys and mules with them)
Those animals are basically the companions of minecraft, and all of them come in so many different colors and patterns that allow players to find one that's most visually pleasing to them EXCEPT for wolves/dogs. They are the only ones
I want this because the skyrim texture pack has 99% of all blocks, skins, and textures that i like, but to use it im forced to have my favorite animal in the world look horrible to me. Unlike the untamed wolf, the tamed wolf's colors make it not look like a dog or wolf to me. *Its no fair! Why are cats loved but not dogs!*
Yea... it would be nice if we could select block and animal skins from the different texture packs into 1 custom pack. I wouldn't mind having just one skin for a creature then. Id take the wolf from the city texture pack and the glass from the Norse mythology mash up pack to replace those in the skyrim texture pack. No more earless looking dogs and see through glass i would finally have 😳

I agree. But my idea of agreeing perhaps is different to your idea of me agreeing. See, I do want variations of dogs, but not modern variations of dogs, meaning no poodles, pugs, corgies, et cetera. I want different colors of dogs, so black, gray, brown, white, et cetera. Colors that real life wolves can have.

A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker could have.
Honestly, I think that just like the cats, along with having multiple textures for wolves, separate wolves and “stray dogs” into different mobs. Just like how the cats have different textures, the dogs could have different breeds, like Pug, German Shepherd, beagle, etc.
More dog variations would be fun. I think it'd be more interesting, though, if wolves themselves were slightly varied in size, fur color, fur pattern, health, and attack damage, and breeding dogs with these traits could produce offspring with more different traits, allowing for selective breeding.
I'll use the size trait as an example. In the wild, wolves could vary in size by only a small amount (let's say it's only 0.9 or 1.1 times the regular size). Breeding two dogs, regardless of their size, would have a chance to produce offspring with a size 0.1 less or 0.1 greater than that of the average of the parents' size. So, if you bred two dogs which both had a size of 1.1, their offspring could have a size of 1.0, 1.1, or 1.2. Then, if you were to breed two dogs which both had a size of 1.2, their offspring could have a size of 1.1, 1.2, or 1.3. You could also use this in the opposite way to breed smaller dogs.
There would of course have to be a minimum and maximum size. This mechanic could be applied to the dog's size, attack damage, health, fur color, and fur pattern to allow players to breed their own dog breeds for various uses. Maybe it's harder for monsters to attack smaller dogs. Or, maybe smaller dogs are faster.
My point is that this dog variations could be expanded into something very useful and interesting in the game.
I agree I think it would be a good idea but also I feel that they should be big dogs like German Shepard, Labrador, Akita, Australian cattle dog, etc. Because imagine how strange it would be for a wolf to turn into a pug, as well as it would be smaller so it would be less detailed
