Me, building a lot have something that I have always wanted in Minecraft. They would be called half blocks. They would be like slabs, but vertical. This could solve the problem of say you want the outside walls of your house brick and the inside walls wood and doing that with blocks would be too thick.
Many times proposed (and generally – depending on the details of the specific proposal – well supported) but as yet the idea (in any form) has been declined by MS/Mj.
Details of you particular vision of how this would be implemented are needed to see how it differs from those already floated….
[Interaction with other blocks (especially less than full-block blocks), liquids, and redstone are probably more important than crafting recipe(s) or for which blocks/materials these would be available. ]
