Jellyfish mob(Cnidaria - blue / orange): (im not sure whether the top part of the jellyfish is called a head or a top)
-Can sting players within a radius which expands depending on the age of the jellyfish
-Jellyfish go through 3 stages, one where it is chicken sized, one where it is pig sized then one where it is player size
-Chicken sized mob shocks at a 2x2x2 radius, pig shocks at a 2.25x2.25x2.25 radius and player size shocks at a 2.7x2.7x3 radius
-If attacked with a melee weapon, player receives damage back and a chance of poison for as long as the player is within the radius
-Jelly travel in groups of 4 - 5 and spawn in deep ocean biomes
-Cannot be tamed, instead they feed and breed off of sea grass and kelp
-Are most abundant in low levels of water
-Giant jellyfish (about 3 blocks and 1 slab in height and 1 block in width and length)
-The top part of the jellyfish is 1.5x1.5x1
-On death they drop 3-5 exp, sea grass, kelp
-The top part of the jellyfish can be found on a drown mob's head (does not do anything, is just for design - or adds a 1.25x1.25x1.25 radius of jellyfish sting)
-If deep ocean biomes have a tide update, jellyfish tops can be found on beaches after a wave and worn by a player providing 1 protection
-Makes you swim faster, but you are incredibly vulnerable to running water, getting pushed around heavily
-You get a infinite water breathing ability when swimming on the very top of a body of water, going one level lower removes the effect
-Applies a poison radius around you that is only activated when under water making fighting drowns or killing cods easier, just make sure its off when you are around dolphins
-If the tops found on a beach biome is put in a furnace it will produce fried jelly fish which restores 0.6 food points which is equal to dried kelp
-The chance of finding jellyfish tops on a beach biome is relatively low, just so it is somewhat hard to stack jellyfish giving that they will have a high spawn rate
I like the idea, but a couple of things I would suggest:
- I don't agree with the size thing: I think that the "jellyfish" should be a block size mob that is just animated in the block it spawns in. It has a (very low) chance every tick to move by one block towards another unoccupied block of water source.
- I agree with the 'thorns' effect if striking the main body.
- Instead of a stinger radius, I think it would work better to have a 'stinger' block that hangs under the main body. This would grow downwards from the jellyfish body. It would be as hard to see as string is, but is easily damaged/broken (no drops). Swimming through the stingers causes damage to mobs and players. Fish would take 2x damage from them. Stinger blocks would just keep growing until they hit the ocean floor (most jellyfish are immortal)
- Any fish (or other food item) floating up into the main block would be consumed by the jellyfish and it would have an X% chance of spawning another one in an adjacent body of water. (Jellyfish ain't vegan; they eat fleshy things and they only need 'food' to grow.)
- Turtles will attack and 'eat' the jellyfish body (No drops. Stingers dissipate like tree leaves when the main body is gone)
- Don't agree with the drop items or cooking them up. Perhaps something that could be brewed into a potion of thorns? Or a chance of slime balls? Or maybe they could be caught in a bucket and placed on land - when they are killed they transform into a water source block.
Jellyfish mob(Cnidaria - blue / orange): (im not sure whether the top part of the jellyfish is called a head or a top)
-Can sting players within a radius which expands depending on the age of the jellyfish Animals in Mincraft barely have a life cycle, only baby and adult, and Jellyfish are immortal, unless you could bread them manually this would mean they'd need to breed in the wild, unlike any other mob.
-Jellyfish go through 3 stages, one where it is chicken sized, one where it is pig sized then one where it is player size. Now I see where you're going, I'd actually like being able to say choose the size when building say an Aquarium.
Chicken sized mob shocks at a 2x2x2 radius, pig shocks at a 2.25x2.25x2.25 radius and player size shocks at a 2.7x2.7x3 radius. So would there tentacles move around in the water? Would they move towards the player?
-If attacked with a melee weapon, player receives damage back and a chance of poison for as long as the player is within the radius
-Jelly travel in groups of 4 - 5 and spawn in deep ocean biomes Oceans arn't that deep, maybe have them there and in Coastal Oceans.
-Cannot be tamed, instead they feed and breed off of sea grass and kelp Sea Grass and Kelp are EXTREMELY common in Minecraft oceans, travelling in groups of 4 - 5 they would mass bread.
-Are most abundant in low levels of water Rivers? I don't know what you mean?
-Giant jellyfish (about 3 blocks and 1 slab in height and 1 block in width and length) Any different colorings? Model, apart from size?
-The top part of the jellyfish is 1.5x1.5x1
-On death they drop 3-5 exp, sea grass, kelp By the time I'm exploring underwater and fighting Jellyfish, I'll have shears to gather Sea Grass (which is also useless) and my fists to gather Kelp, and enough EXP from land Mobs.
-The top part of the jellyfish can be found on a drown mob's head (does not do anything, is just for design - or adds a 1.25x1.25x1.25 radius of jellyfish sting) I like that design, that if a Jellyfish comes across a drowned it "assimilates" it, would be great for maps.
-If deep ocean biomes have a tide update, jellyfish tops can be found on beaches after a wave and worn by a player providing 1 protection Only thing is, when wearing it, it would need to look more like a Jellyfish top then a Hairstyle (seeing how Jelly fish have tentacles.
-Makes you swim faster, but you are incredibly vulnerable to running water, getting pushed around heavily Why is it that you don't get one from killing a Jellyfish? Also, 1 Protection was enough, otherwise it'd be too good for something you find washed up on shore.
-You get a infinite water breathing ability when swimming on the very top of a body of water, going one level lower removes the effect Again, too much stuff for something you find on the Beach by doing nothing but simply walking to a Beach.
-Applies a poison radius around you that is only activated when under water making fighting drowns or killing cods easier, just make sure its off when you are around dolphins Again, too much stuff.

Hey guys I'm James, I used to be a noob but now I'm not, I finally figured out how to use TextCraft so here's a banner for one of my suggestions.
By this i meant age group, baby and then we will add a sort of teen group and then adult. There are three because jellyfish have a tendency to grow up to great sizes.
-Jellyfish go through 3 stages, one where it is chicken sized, one where it is pig sized then one where it is player size. Now I see where you're going, I'd actually like being able to say choose the size when building say an Aquarium. Im thinking that jellyfish can spawn on coral reefs and that is where they will lay their eggs. The eggs will be on coral blocks and can be collected via silk touch pick axe and must be placed on a coral block (underwater). If not then it will not hatch.
Chicken sized mob shocks at a 2x2x2 radius, pig shocks at a 2.25x2.25x2.25 radius and player size shocks at a 2.7x2.7x3 radius. So would there tentacles move around in the water? Would they move towards the player? Well Im thinking that they will be a neutral mob that will only sting when threatened, so the tentacles will not move towards the player, instead sway. If the jellyfish turns left, the tentacle will slowly turn to match the position of the top of the jellyfish. (Do you see where Im going with this?)
-If attacked with a melee weapon, player receives damage back and a chance of poison for as long as the player is within the radius
-Jelly travel in groups of 4 - 5 and spawn in deep ocean biomes Oceans arn't that deep, maybe have them there and in Coastal Oceans.

-Are most abundant in low levels of water Rivers? I don't know what you mean? I meant low layers, my bad. But it would be better if it spawned around coral.
-Giant jellyfish (about 3 blocks and 1 slab in height and 1 block in width and length) Any different colorings? Model, apart from size? At the top of the post I put blue, and orange but they can also be pink and purple. But instead I feel they should just match the color of the coral block they spawn on.
4-7 due to the damage they can do and have a rare chance to drop bottles of poison.
Yes thats why only the top part of the jellyfish will be found so it will just sit on the top of your head similar to a helmet without the tentacles drooping down.
-Makes you swim faster, but you are incredibly vulnerable to running water, getting pushed around heavily Why is it that you don't get one from killing a Jellyfish? Also, 1 Protection was enough, otherwise it'd be too good for something you find washed up on shore. Well just like every other mob you don't easily get mob heads, the top part of the jellyfish will be considered a head but when worn it will not be just like the other heads, instead it will sit on the top of the players head. I also tried to add perks to make it similar to the turtle helmet. And if there was a permanent speed boost there would be no use for the turtle helmet. I tried to keep into consideration the usefulness of other mobs while keeping this one relevant.
-You get a infinite water breathing ability when swimming on the very top of a body of water, going one level lower removes the effect Again, too much stuff for something you find on the Beach by doing nothing but simply walking to a Beach. Well I think that the chance of finding them will be rare due to the location of coral reefs compared to beaches. It could be once every few minecraft days. But yeah doing more research jellyfish dont swim fast. So instead maybe floating upwards can be a little bit faster.
-Applies a poison radius around you that is only activated when under water making fighting drowns or killing cods easier, just make sure its off when you are around dolphins Again, too much stuff. Yeah I agree since the heads of the jellyfish arent capable of stinging only the tentacles.
-If the tops found on a beach biome is put in a furnace it will produce fried jelly fish which restores 0.6 food points which is equal to dried kelp. That's a cool touch I like.

Stinger blocks would just keep growing until they hit the ocean floor (most jellyfish are immortal) -I agree since it wouldn't make sense to have a jellyfish that can sting above, instead anything near the tentacles should be affected.
- Any fish (or other food item) floating up into the main block would be consumed by the jellyfish and it would have an X% chance of spawning another one in an adjacent body of water. (Jellyfish ain't vegan; they eat fleshy things and they only need 'food' to grow.) -I agree except what if players want to put them into an aquarium, jellyfish will kill the other fish. Of course the jellyfish can be put into their own separate tank but it might not look as nice. Maybe the jellyfish could have a rare chance of eating a fish.
-I agree but I think a new potion should be added in order to prevent total replacement of a current recipe. The new recipe could be used on armor and pose as a shock doing a little more damage than thorns but no knock back when getting attacked so it does not replace the thorns enchant. Or maybe it can be put on a trident to immobilize mobs for 1 tick when thrown(only mobs). Also wouldnt it be cool if stingrays were in minecraft.
Jellyfish mob(Cnidaria - blue / orange): (im not sure whether the top part of the jellyfish is called a head or a top) It's actually neither, it's called the Body.
-Can sting players within a radius which expands depending on the age of the jellyfish Animals in Mincraft barely have a life cycle, only baby and adult, and Jellyfish are immortal, unless you could bread them manually this would mean they'd need to breed in the wild, unlike any other mob. By this i meant age group, baby and then we will add a sort of teen group and then adult. If not then it will not hatch.I like that addition, though in real life the eggs sometimes wash up on shore, so maybe you could find them on shore and then bring them back to the water? I also like the idea of Breeding Grounds in Minecraft, like certain areas of a Coral Reef, maybe even Migration and Herds?

Model, apart from size?At the top of the post I put blue, and orange but they can also be pink and purple. But instead I feel they should just match the color of the coral block they spawn on.I like the idea of different skins for mobs in Minecraft.

-The top part of the jellyfish can be found on a drown mob's head (does not do anything, is just for design - or adds a 1.25x1.25x1.25 radius of jellyfish sting) I like that design, that if a Jellyfish comes across a drowned it "assimilates" it, would be great for maps.

-You get a infinite water breathing ability when swimming on the very top of a body of water, going one level lower removes the effect Again, too much stuff for something you find on the Beach by doing nothing but simply walking to a Beach.Well I think that the chance of finding them will be rare due to the location of coral reefs compared to beaches. It could be once every few minecraft days. But yeah doing more research jellyfish dont swim fast. So instead maybe floating upwards can be a little bit faster.Yah. Also, I should have mentioned this earlier but I like the fact of adding a small challenge to Coral Reefs.
-Applies a poison radius around you that is only activated when under water making fighting drowns or killing cods easier, just make sure its off when you are around dolphins Again, too much stuff.Yeah I agree since the heads of the jellyfish arent capable of stinging only the tentacles.I wasn't thinking that at the time of writing that reply, and just realized it now that you said it.

Responses in Bold. Thanks for clearing up a lot of the stuff I pointed out. I still have Support. You should update your post to reflect on these new things. You quoted this a bit weird, my old text will be in Strikethrough.
When you said Pink and Purple varient, it made me think of this.

[...] but normally jellyfish grow to big sizes so I believe that maybe it can just have a baby and adult stage like the other mobs going from a mob with the size of one block, to the size of two blocks.
I understand about jellyfish growing in size, but more often they become a huge 'swarm'/'bloom'/'smack' - by having a new one spawn next to the existing it expands the mass of the mob and effectively doubles the hearts and stingy bits... which in turn doubles the chances of catching more fish and increasing in size again.
I think that it might be better if they didn't actually move blocks, but the newly created baby jellys had a chance to spawn in a random adjacent block one block up/down from the parent. (Jellys are immune to other jellys stings, but would block the growth of stingers of jellys above them.)
[...]- Any fish (or other food item) floating up into the main block would be consumed by the jellyfish and it would have an X% chance of spawning another one in an adjacent body of water. -I agree except what if players want to put them into an aquarium, jellyfish will kill the other fish. Yup - Jellyfish don't play well with others: Why would you put one in a tank with fish unless to breed them?
Also wouldn't it be cool if stingrays were in minecraft.
Aesthetically, yea- but you could say that for soooo many other sea creatures: the Jellyfish has a cool and unique game mechanic (hanging stingers) that impacts the players and mobs.
I would also say that the 'body' skins/colours should randomise like tropical fish do. I would also make them luminescent: give out as much light as a redstone torch.
{I still am against any power-up drops (and plant drops don't make any sense)- these are passive mobs that don't move out the way and are simple to kill. I don't think that it needs a drop to make it any more interesting.}
I'm not sure about spawning only over corel: I would say in any 'ocean' biome and at any level - but maybe twice as rare as dolphins.

-The way jellyfish work is, they dont try and catch the fish, the fish would wander into them. And even if this was the case, they can only breed once every few minecraft days. But if this would be a problem, like the sheep mob they should just be fed by a player in order to enter love mob, but if they eat a fish normally it will not cause anything. So im thinking that there is a chance that a baby jellyfish spawns and when it eats a fish it grows into an adult.

The chance of finding jellyfish tops on a beach biome is relatively low, just so it is somewhat hard to stack jellyfish giving that they will have a high spawn rate Ok.

I like the idea, but a couple of things I would suggest:
- I don't agree with the size thing: I think that the "jellyfish" should be a block size mob that is just animated in the block it spawns in. It has a (very low) chance every tick to move by one block towards another unoccupied block of water source. -I see where you are going, but normally jellyfish grow to big sizes so I believe that maybe it can just have a baby and adult stage like the other mobs going from a mob with the size of one block, to the size of two blocks.
- I agree with the 'thorns' effect if striking the main body. -Thank you
- Instead of a stinger radius, I think it would work better to have a 'stinger' block that hangs under the main body. This would grow downwards from the jellyfish body. It would be as hard to see as string is, but is easily damaged/broken (no drops). Swimming through the stingers causes damage to mobs and players. Fish would take 2x damage from them.
Responses in Bold. Thanks for clearing up a lot of the stuff I pointed out. I still have Support. You should update your post to reflect on these new things. You quoted this a bit weird, my old text will be in
Strikethrough. When you said Pink and Purple varient, it made me think of this.
Hey guys I'm James, I used to be a noob but now I'm not, I finally figured out how to use TextCraft so here's a banner for one of my suggestions.
Yup - Jellyfish don't play well with others: Why would you put one in a tank with fish unless to breed them?
Aesthetically, yea- but you could say that for soooo many other sea creatures: the Jellyfish has a cool and unique game mechanic (hanging stingers) that impacts the players and mobs.
I would also say that the 'body' skins/colours should randomise like tropical fish do. I would also make them luminescent: give out as much light as a redstone torch.
{I still am against any power-up drops (and plant drops don't make any sense)- these are passive mobs that don't move out the way and are simple to kill. I don't think that it needs a drop to make it any more interesting.}
-Jellyfish only eat jellyfish from other species. The species im covering are the cnidarian species, all im doing is just changing their color.
The jelly fish should drop jelly that you could eat or use it to make something
