As a builder in a frequent server I'm contributing too I'm finding that armor stands and armor doesn't cut it when it comes to detailing a certain build. I'm coming to realize that in order to extend the building community. Does anybody find that there needs to be some stone statues of different stone-like materials to be introduced into the vanilla Minecraft?
I'm suggesting this as not to improve my building skills but for others as well. For the building community there needs to be a wider variation of building materials for us to expand our build's and detailing. So going into more detail, creating a stone figure of lets say a mob or a certain player in your server...... in any stone -like material (instead of the npc commands as an alternative ) Something like this.....(Depicted down below)
Wouldn't that be a really cool detail in our builds?
Assuming it could be done at reasonable cost (in terms of lag and resources) this would be a welcome addition.
Possibly something functioning along the same lines as the current paintings (a default selection taht can be relatively easily customized by users) would work.
One issue with extending that idea to three dimensions is that the amount of information needed to attractively render and object increases greatly with the number of different angles from which it is viewed; the level of detail in the example carvings would seem unlikely to be available in MC as it currently exists.[Possibly higher than vanilla resolution textures would lessen this.]
For multiplayer, it would seem that the statue definition files would need to be server-side for others to view such properly. Perjhaps someone more familiar with MC client-sever interaction could speak to that issue or point out alternatives.

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.
