Minecraft Multiplayer is cool and all, but it could be expanded upon in many ways. Some of these suggestions are not necessarily huge changes, but they are little quirks that I think would be cool additions to Minecraft Java!
1. Friends List -
I feel as if a friends list would be the next step for multiplayer in Minecraft Java. Some of us go through the struggle of having to use multiple applications to talk amongst several friends while playing the game. This is not a huge problem, but being able to send text chat messages across to Minecraft friends through the Java client would be really cool. Some will argue that this is not needed, which is true because to ask some friends to download another platform really wouldn't be that hard. Many people have reasons not to do so, though. It's definitely worth looking into.
2. | Join Server | Option! -
Along with the Minecraft friends list, a simple button or option on the Minecraft Menu could allow players to quickly join their friends game without having to interrupt them from what they are currently busy working on or doing. This is especially useful if you, at the time, don't have any form of communication with that player or friend! However, this does come with some advantages and disadvantages, which will lead us to the next suggestion.
3. World Host -
I didn't know the exact words to put as the title for this suggestion, so I think using "World Host" will do. As we all know, Minecraft, at the moment, has Realms. Realms are really cool, but it costs money that players a lot of the time just aren't willing to pay. This is why I think we should have the option to host our Minecraft World from Mojang's Servers to friends. This would allow players to set their world to private, open, etc. (Sort of like the consoles and Windows 10 Edition of the game.) I'm not saying this would be easy for Mojang, but considering the money they have, I think it'd be possible to one day add to the game. I also don't want people to think that doing this would give you as much accessibility and freedom as realms, or even setting up a server of your own. It would simply be an easy but limited way to allow friends to play online together without the need for port forwarding and paying for a realm, both of which are very nice options.
Please do tell me what you think of these suggestions. I find that these suggestions would be very possible for the somewhat distant future! I'd like to hear people's similar opinions on this.
