The main idea is that inanimate blocks (ie trees and rocks) would become entities under certain circumstances (ie light).
Here are some example :
-trolls : turning into stone blocks during the day, becoming slow entities with high HP during the night
-ents : if you try to cut a tree, there is a chance (increasing with difficulty) that it becomes alive and try to attack you
-skeletons : if tombstones or graveyards are added, some skeletons could come live and turn into the zombies and skeletons we know
-enchanted books : similar to the Discworld novels : the higher the level of magic, the higher the chance the books try to attack/fly away (might salso summon "demons" like magma cubes, ender mites or vexes)
If you like an idea in particular, I'll create a whole topic about the creature and the potential gameplay.

🥖 As a french I usually make english mistakes, so don't be afraid to correct me if I used an inappropriate word. Thanks. 🥖
These ideas are interesting, but I would need more information before I can say I support. The other issue is that these are from other franchises, and Minecraft seems to be going for original creatures as of now.

I may in the future create more precise topic to talk about each entity separatly.

Like the skeletons, the zombies and the giant spiders, these creatures are very common in video games (even the Discworld books have inspired Harry Potter's ones).
But I see your point : with the Illagers and the 1.13 creatures, Minecraft is becoming a less "classic" universe, so maybe they should "minecraftify" my ideas (with design changes and new ideas, ie a special way to defeat the ent).

Check out my suggestions! Here is one of them:
