My idea is very simple: Allow comparators to be able to detect whether a door is open or closed. Like with other blocks, it should be able to detect even if there is a block between it and the door. (ex: You should be able to place a door on the block, place a comparator by the block the door was placed on, and it should detect the door's state) While this really doesn't have many uses for survival mode that I can think of, it can definitely help people who like to make redstone contraptions as well as mapmakers. You may be wondering why even bother with this when we have observers? The problem with observers is that they have to be right next to the block it is detecting. Because of this, you can't make traps hidden with the observer. The comparator on the other hand, has the one block space thing that I mentioned earlier, which can allow for some easy hidden traps.
Uses in Survival Mode:
- Easy trap with a comparator leading to TNT or something else of your choice
Creative Mode/Mapmaking uses:
- Trigger a circuit when a door is opened (useful for doing something to the player in a custom map)
Let me know if you have any suggestions or any more uses and I will add them.
