I believe you should be able to mix potions either using cauldron or in your inventory. The duration of the potions when mixed should half and should have to be done before adding splash or lingering.
Cauldron Method:
Right Click cauldron with a potion. Now the cauldron is 1/3 full with potion duration full.
Right Click with different potion. Now the cauldron is 2/3 full with each event duration halved.
Either put potions back in bottle or add 1 more.
If add 1 more the 2 in the cauldron all effects will be 1/3. 2/3 duration if you used the same potion twice.
I am aware Instant Health and Instant Damage could easily be duped if this is implamented like this, therefore instant potions would require extra code to half the effect or to render them useless in mixing.
Also mixing with water or other innate potions should work and just half duration.
Once you start emptying the cauldron it should not allow any more potions to be added until it's completely empty.
Also it would be cool if you could pick your new brew up with a bucket if the cauldron is completely full. Anyways I want to make cauldrons alittle more useful other than in redstone builds and decor.
So I could just combine a Swiftness 2 and Strength 2 potion, then put on Regeneration along with that potion and destroy everything? This is why mixing potions is such a bad idea.

Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.

If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.
Like I said in the other thread about potions, this just worms around the balance of potions not being stackable for overpowered combination. Potions not stacking is like that for a reason.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
I dunno. If you only got one potion back when mixing two or three in a cauldron, and if it worked like mixing potions in D&D (chance you get the mixed effect, chance it turns into a random potion, chance it explodes,) it would be interesting...

I do like the idea of random effects when mixing.
The potions aren't stacking, the effects are stacking and being shortened. You would still only have 1 bottle per slot. To be honest in most cases it would be useless to mix potions in this matter because there duration would shorten to a very low amount. Regen 2 already has a low duration and cutting it in half or to 1/3 would give it only 1 or 2 ticks. Everyone is thinking this would make things highly unbalanced should understand that the person could just use 3 potions 1 at a time and would be much better off.
