So I was thinking that if a baby villager could be found in a village that you could raise it as your own.
I think that a gold way this could be done is by using a name tag the name "kid_". Then give it a golden apple.
Heart's should pop up as if you were taming a wolf then the baby will follow you around. You can then give it a wooden sword.
While it is a baby you can teach it to build and mine. When it is an adult you can give it a max armor of iron and an iron sword or an iron tool. It can also carry a stone or wooden tool or sword.
You can also access it's inventory and place things there for it too carry. It gets 25% of any experience that you pick up.
To heal it just feed it what you would eat. Harmful potions have no effect so if he is in the way during battle when you throw a splash potion of harming he wont get killed. However good potions a will help him.
Unlike the normal villager he will not run from battl. unless you do. Like a wolf you can make it stay. Also like the wolf it will attack whatever you attack unless you make it stay. it will also attack anything without you hitting the mob first But only if it isn't staying. The player may only have two villager companions at one time. When one dies onother can be made
Villagers are meant to be pacifist things that can only trade or run away, not to turn into mob versions of players. I can already see people making villager farms and just turning every baby villager into their servants.
Listen I get your idea I really do and it would be awesome but like mcriveter said they are pacifists and do not fight that's why there are iron golems
I think that the iron golem is helpful but it can't attack a creeper and it has to stay on a lead. So you can't fight with a sword and hold the lead unless you play mc on a pc. It also can't use a bow and arrow. And it can't place and build blocks. And if you accident my hit it it will attack you.
So I was thinking that if a baby villager could be found in a village that you could raise it as your own. So we're kidnapping Villager kids to serve our every word? Already off to a VERY bad start.
I think that a gold way this could be done is by using a name tag the name "kid_". Then give it a golden apple. Just cause it takes a Name Tag and a Gapple doesn't make it balanced.
Heart's should pop up as if you were taming a wolf then the baby will follow you around. So it works everytime? You can then give it a wooden sword. But why? At this point wouldn't it be too weak to fight much more than Zombies and maybe Spiders?
While it is a baby you can teach it to build and mine. The mining COULD happen, but the building would take so many checks to ensure it can build the house AND has the blocks to do so would be absurd. When it is an adult you can give it a max armor of iron and an iron sword or an iron tool. It can also carry a stone or wooden tool or sword. Why not Diamond Tools? If we're already adding companions shouldn't they be able to equip everything the player can?
You can also access it's inventory and place things there for it too carry. This here is the biggest problem. Even if they could fight well, most people would just use them as pack mules. It gets 25% of any experience that you pick up.
To heal it just feed it what you would eat. Harmful potions have no effect so if he is in the way during battle when you throw a splash potion of harming he wont get killed. However good potions a will help him. NegativePotion immunity would be OP. Imagine if in, say, Skyrim your followers couldn't get hurt by Ice Storm or Fireball?
Unlike the normal villager he will not run from battl. unless you do. So it's pretty much a villager guard? Like a wolf you can make it stay. Also like the wolf it will attack whatever you attack unless you make it stay. So it's pretty much a better Wolf? it will also attack anything without you hitting the mob first But only if it isn't staying. The player may only have two villager companions at one time. When one dies onother can be made
There are 3 main problems here:
1. The fact you basically kidnap them and force them into slavery is a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE turn-off.
2. They would pretty much get used like followers in Skyrim: They'd be used to haul all the junk you mine out so your inventory isn't cluttered with a bunch of bowls you don't remember picking up.
3. The building and mining mechanic. It'd require a whole new, advanced AI to know where it could build, IF it can build, if it's possible to mine where it wants to, and how to tell ores and stone apart and prioritize them.

Wow your taking things to seriously. Its just a game.

So, how would it place and destroy blocks? How would that work mechanically?
I think you are right.
It is a bit wierd
