Malachite could be made into tools that mine a bit faster than diamond tools. They cannot mine obsidian, but they can mine all the ores including its own ore! It could be also made into buckets, which could hold 3 times more storage!
The second anyone says "something something better/faster than diamond", the suggestion falls into a pit it can never climb out of. Nothing should be better than diamond, that's just too much. Why can't it mine obsidian? That's really random. The buckets are also needlessly beefy.
A new ore shouldn't be for these overly powerful things. We also don't need another tier of tools.

No purpose in a new ore if the idea is for a new variety of tools. Enchanted Diamond pretty much instantly breaks blocks, what else do you need.
