Hey everyone! Llamas are going to come out in 1.11 but I think they'll need a few tweaks. Llamas should be able to breed with wheat or something else! Breeding Llamas with different colors will combine those colors (if possible) and make a baby Llama with the mixed colors. Llamas should also be able to spawn in Deserts, because Llamas live in deserts IRL (in real life), thus adding a desert-like Llama. So let me know what you think and I hope Mojang adds this!
Actually Llamas do not live in deserts but they do thrive in high elevations that are not desert. As far as breeding, the only passive mob I can recall having been added that was not able to be breed was the squid. Thus I think it is very likely that Mojang is planning on making it possible to breed Llamas. As far as colored Llamas. They may very well be the same as sheep, color changing with dyes.

I think you're confusing Llamas with camels. Llama live in mountainous areas typically, usually the Andes mountains. Spawning in Extreme Hills makes sense.

1 Wheat (from original poster) for breeding such a useful animal is ... kinda cheap IMHO.
1 Hay Bale (from the wiki), seems way costlier. Maybe too much?
However...
Sure, cows ans sheep need only 1 wheat too, but they don't have complex pathing. Llamas come in "roped trains" so I expect they are kinda more CPU intensive than cows. They are a "rare" find, so that means its also ok for a bit higher breeding cost. Also, when going somewhere, you rarely bring tons of cows or sheep with so you, so whenever you're not at your home base, more often than not your big animal farm is all going to be in unloaded chunks, meaning zero CPU for that. Meanwhile, you'll probably bring your llamas with you way more often when traveling.
Heck, I don't know how big a llama model is, but from the images I see, I expect its smaller than a horse. If they can fit in a 1 wide 2 tall tunnel, then this means that a simple small tunnel is enough to make llamas become THE way to bring tons of material back from of your mining, even BRANCH mining. Horses can also be brought in mines too but they are a pain and you OFTEN get your head inside stone which entails instantaneously starting to take suffocation damage. Its' just not very practical at all. And Minecarts need a looooot of set up.
So yeah, I think making the cost higher to reduce abuse makes a bit of sense. A Hay Bale is steep, but still within reasonable limits.

It would make llamas easier to acquire, and it's realistic... I support this.
Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.

Typing "Llama in desert" or "desert llama" into google images and picking the first picture doesn't really prove that Llamas are native to deserts.
If you do research you'll find llamas thrive in high elevation. They are not like camels despite being related.
Wow, they added Llama Breeding! Did Mojang see my suggestion?!

Mojang never looks on the Minecraft Forums. And llamas are passive animals, so they had to be made breedable eventually.

When I said 'did Mojang see my post?!' was sarcasm, thank you very much.
Llamas aren't technically passive, as they can kill you if you have 1 HP left when you hit them.
