As of now, it's quite apparent that 1.10 is going to turn out as "The Building Update". Now, most of you know about the Buildcraft Mod, right? Well, I believe that the basic mechanics of the mod should be implemented into Vanilla Minecraft.
There are a couple of things that a Minecraft mod needs to have a vanilla feel to it. Most important is that it has to be balanced. Buildcraft is extremely balanced. It requires that you use a fair amount of resources to craft and upgrade gears. It adds machines that require redstone and fuel to power (redstone, because it's a machine, and fuel because it runs on its own). Second is that it needs to be built around the mechanics of Vanilla MC. I believe it does that, too. As I said, the machines run on redstone, because they're machines, and fuel, because they operate independently. The pipes work a little like hoppers (by transporting items), and the different types of pipes work like their given material (gold accelerates transport, like powered rails, diamond sorts things, because DIAMONDS!!, cobblestone is just an ordinary building block, etc.).
Since Buildcraft is mostly about building (hence the name), and has a vanilla feel to it, and 1.10 is, as I said above, apparently going to come out as "The Building Update", I believe that Builcraft sould be implemented into Vanilla Minecraft, and 1.10 would be the perfecttime for it.
I'm going to initially go with no support on this because you didn't really explain what Buildcraft contains, short of that it requires resources for gears and that it adds machines.
If you aren't going to properly explain what the mod is could you at least include a link? Also, your reasoning for it being called the building update is slim. Based on the same reasoning I could say it will be the mob update or the Nether update.

I'll agree with Badprenup on this, we can't just call it the Building Update when the snapshot cycle is just starting. ATM it's more likely the Nether Update.
Now on to the suggestion itself, your suggesting we add a mod to the base game, which is bad enough. But I don't see any reasons Buildcraft should be in the vanilla game. Buildcraft is more for modpacks where you have dozens of new ores that clog up your inventory.
Excepy that Buildcraft is far from Vanilla. Horses are a single mob, that look and act very much like a vanilla mob. Its easy to implement those without them feeling out of place. That's not the case with Buildcraft.
I could elaborate quite a bit on this, but Im on my phone so typing is slow and tedious. Lets just keep it at Minecraft not featuring any machines so far, and no block that is redstone powered ever requiring fuel.
Plus I really hate Buildcraft and would probably stick to 1.9 if it became vanilla in 1.10
NO SUPPORT
I suppose that makes sense. But what about the item transport tubes?
I would absolutely love Buildcraft integrated into Minecraft. I love the mod. But no, it would change the whole dynamic of the game, and I know many would not like that. (If hoppers could go up, then half my wish would be in game already.)

Cast aside your festive doylaks: dragon stuff is about to happen.
Multiplayer is lonely once you understand how it actually works.
Hoppers, droppers and water streams. I know it's a lot more work then a transport tube, but it's technically already possible.
TBH, the transport pipes are kinda cool. But the rest of buildcraft would just turn me off of Minecraft, so it really wouldn't be worth it IMO.
And Ender Chests.

You should never call an idea "The _____ Update!" without justifying it.
And Ender Chests.
Enderchests aren't automated. I personally use a Minecart with Chest to bring items upwards automatically. It is super easy to set a basic loop with it, it is relatively cheap to set up, and you can do fancy stuff with it and Redstone like looping around your sorter until the Minecart is empty and then sending it back to the collection point.
Tubes would be better but I don't want all of Buildcraft for just that.

It's "The Building Update" because it's focusing on adding new blocks (including structure blocks). Why would it be "The Nether Update?"
Also, this isn't a new thing, turning mods into Vanilla Minecraft. Remember "The Horse Update", and "The Combat Update"?
Unfortunately, I have to agree with the others. No support!

Referring to Ender storage since those can be automated (color-code enderchests basically).
