I like to think of Minecraft as a fantasy game. So that's why today I'm introducing spells.
SPELL COOLDOWNS
An additional bar of info in between HP and hunger would indicate how much "mana" you have. One spell uses up all your mana. It takes exactly 15 seconds to fill it up. It would be a blue experience bar that would slowly fill up by itself. (That's the look.)
BASIC SPELLS
Spell of Burn
This one is simple. It shoots a fireball at the pointed location, and upon contact, will deal 6 Damage and sets the target on fire.
Spell of Slow
Shoots a gray orb at the pointed location, and upon contact, will deal 1 damage and slow the target for 15 seconds.
Spell of Toxic
Shoots a green orb as the pointed location, and upon contact, will deal 1 damage and poison the target for 10 seconds.
All of these would be found in Nether Fortresses with rarity.
SPELLBOOK
This would be created in a crafting table.
This is the crafting Recipe:
PBP
P = Mundane Potion
B = Book
This creates a basic spell book, which looks like an enchanted book.
Nether Star + Spellbook = Spell of Decay
Shoots a black orb at the pointed direction. Upon contact, it deals 3 damage and gives Wither for 10 seconds.
Potion of Instant Healing + Spellbook = Spell of Vitality
When used, it will heal the user by 2.5 hearts.
Ench. Golden Apple + Spellbook = Spell of Determination (or Endurance...)
When used, it will give the user Health Boost for 1 minute.
I will add more spells as I get more ideas.

There's really no need for throwing in ultra generic RPG stuff for the sake of doing it. This is what we have enchantments and potions for.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
The minecraft developers said they wouldn't add any magic other than enchanting, when it says that a certain mob killed you with magic that's a different damage type. Magic damage ignores armor and is applied to mobs to make them stronger.
And I don't think if minecraft as a fantasy game, plus these are useless compared to potions and another bar for magic would be useless for the beginning of your adventure.

I seen a much better thread about magic and i'm not crazy about the idea. 1 word potions. I think potions are magic (Sounds bad would i say it xD)
