Yes, I know, this has been posted before. I just think this doesn't fit in another's thread.
Propose for use
Electricity is used to power electrical blocks and stuff. Generators could be used as motors on trains, and for making light (!). Here comes also the button for use. It'd be a bit like redstone circuits. There are many suggestions for electrical blocks. You could use it in traps, and everything. (Please come with suggestions for what it can be used for!)
Electrical blocks
Here are some blocks that needs electricity. The electrical furnace works as a ordinary furnace, but is connected with wires and don't need coal etc. It works with electricity, and will never need any ressource block. Also, there is a electrical dispenser. It's connected with wires, and only need a lever to start/stop it placed by the side.
Electrical furnace:
= Electrical furnace
About the same as a usual furnace, but without need of ANY ressource. Just put in the thing you want to smelt, and it'll begin automaticly. Simple. Uses 25 E.
Electrical dispenser:
= Electrical dispenser
where is redstone and is bow.
The electric dispenser is easy to operate. Put in items as usual, hit it to shoot. Put a lever beside, turning it on, woul make the items shoting rapidly out. Without needs for redstone circuits. Uses 50 E.
Electrical fence:
= 2 electric fences
When touched, deal two damage. To remove, use a sword or a axe. Uses 50 E per block.
Lamps:
= 4 lamps
[] []
Lamps can be placed on walls or on the ground. To light, it must be connected with a redstone wire. It provides light level 15 (16 if possible). With a lever, it can be turned on and off. Uses 50 E per lamp.
General blocks
First, the elementary thing, the wires.
Can be crafted like this:
[] [] []
= 8 gold wires
[] [] []
[] [] []
= 4 redstone wires
[] [] []
where is redstone.
Redstone wires are used for connection between electrical objects, and in power plants. Electricity in redstone wires travels no longer than 16 blocks. Gold wires are made for huge distances. The electricty can travel over the whole map at under one second. Both wires have certain properties: They can be placed on ground, in hills and on the wall. This making it suitable for lamps.
Transformator block:
[] = Transformator block
Transformator blocks connect gold wires with redstone wires.
Generator block:
= Generator block
where is redstone.
Cooler block:
= Cooler block
where is a bucket of water.
Damp block:
[]
[] = Damp block
Meter block:
= Meter block
where is redstone.
The meter block shows the amount of electricity flowing trough the block. It will blink red if the power is low. The power is measured (where E stands for Electricity) between 0 E (nothing) to 100 000 (enourmous).
Coal plant
To make a coal plant, you need some heat blocks (to smelt coal) connected trough a damp block, to a generator connected to a transformator block, which you can connect with wires. The generator must be connected with a cooler block in a circuit. Heat block:
[] [] []
[] [] = Heat block
Properties:
Amount of produced electricity: Big (20 000 E)
Amount needed to produce electricity: Average (50 coal)
Difficulty: Average
Notes: The heat block produces black smoke, and the if placed on a flammable block, it could hit fire by the heat.
Water plant
You need a turbine block connected to a generator block. Generator block is connected to transformator blocks. The turbine block must be placed in a water flow, not a source. The water flows trough the block one way.
Turbine block:
= Turbine block
Properties
Amount of produced electricity: Low (2 000 E)
Amount needed to produce electricity: Low (Only a stream of water, connected one block from the source)
Difficulty: Low
Notes: Can be connected with more turbine blocks to make more energy. An easy beginner plant.
Oil plant
With the oil plant, the oil needs to be put into two refinery block connected in a row, connected to a filter block. Then connected with a generator block, which is connected with a transformator block.
Refinery block:
= Refinery block
When placed, put buckets of oil in it.
Filter block:
= Filter block
where is a refinery block.
Gives back the bucket without oil.
Properties:
Amount of produced electricity: Average (10 000 E)
Amount needed to produce electricity: Low (5 buckets of oil)
Difficulty: Average
Notes: Need many refinery blocks to make an effective plant.
Nuclear plant (my favourite)
The nuclear plant uses uranium.First, the atom reactor block (in a sealed room) connected with two handler blocks and a damp block, where they are connected with one generator and a transformator block. Then connected with some cooler blocks back to the atom reactor block. To not suffocate when dealing the blocks, you need a radiation suit.
Properties:
Amount of produced electricity: Huge (50 000 E)
Amount needed to produce electricity: Average (25 uranium)
Difficulty: Hard
Notes: You will die without the radiation suit. If the atom reactor and handler blocks is not sealed in a room of metal, radiation can leak out and cause radioacticity in the air, making all animals stop spawning. Will also suffer the player sometimes.
Solar plant
A solar plant is set up by many solar blocks, connected to a generator and a transformator.
Solar block:
= 3 Solar panels
where is redstone.
Properties:
Amount of produced electricity: Low (750 E)
Amount needed to produce electricity: High (12 solar panels)
Difficulty: Low
Notes: Not dangerous at all. To be effective, 12 solar blocks is required.

Nice..
But yeah, wires are necessary.. The golden wires are only for connect the transformation blocks and so together. Red stone wires would provide it with electricity.
I dislike the redstone system because a single patch of redstone dust serves as either a wire, or combined with a stick as a torch. Each torch is like a it's own mini generator. I like the idea of generators that require actual fuel to run, or at least more redstone.
This is good, but the wire is unneeded because we got redstone wire.

Thanks :smile.gif: The reason to wires is for example, some electrical blocks would need electricity. Then you have to connect it with wire. Otherwise, wires works also as a parallel to redstone wires. But also the fact redstone turn on and off, and wires do not.
But mine was in regards to Copper, using it for the wire and to build electrical stuff. I got the same arguements about "we already have redstone" and it seems that's probably what's going to happen.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to be able to have electrified rail run by wind and solar power and never need to burn coal again. I just think it's a hand toss whether or not we'll get it. I can see why both redstone and electricity would be redundant in some areas which I mention in my thread.
It's just not popular at the moment.
Oh and I say no to the nuclear stuff. Nobody wants that in the game because if Notch implemented it then people would want nukes, and those aren't popular either. Part of this games appeal is it's simplicity and ability to become complex via your interaction.
The different types of power plants remind me of SimCity. This doesn't really seem like it would fit minecraft (would make a good mod, though.)
The reason we have redstone is probably because Notch doesn't want to add electricity to minecraft. Minecraft has kind of a simple, low-tech feel to it. The most high-tec item in minecraft is the jukebox, but that is probably powered by a wind-up crank or magic. Probably magic.
