Does transporting a rabbit from a wilderness to your home alive seem like a difficulty? Have you ever experienced a lack of rabbit meat drops? Would you want this to change? Then I believe this is the suggestion for you.
AI Changes
I'm sure most of us have experienced dragging a leashed rabbit across the wilderness wondering how it's survived without killing itself so far. Then you come across a hill and going over it ends up killing the rabbit. With the 1.9 changes to rabbits, making them weaker and more vulnerable it will make it even more difficult to transport these rabbits from one area to another. These are my ideas:
- More awareness to obvious hazards
Once we improve on this rabbits won't hop off cliffs or jump into lava pits as if they didn't detect it. If a rabbit is 4 blocks above something or if there is lava nearby the rabbit will stop and hop slowly the other way so it can survive. This will make it much easier for them to get by without falling to their death or burning in lava that they didn't know was there.
- Slightly slower but not too slow
By doing this they won't fall to their death because they hopped a block too far if lured, I suggest that they hop a slightly shorter distance so they will not have to experience death by bad AI.
It is not much, but it makes a difference that will make it a lot easier for rabbits to hop long distances with it's fellow player without dying.
Rabbit Drops
It can be disappointing when you kill 100 rabbits with looting III and you end up with 5 rabbit feet, 50 - 60 raw/cooked rabbit and 100 - 120 rabbit hide. For a weak mob that takes a challenge to get home, I have a few suggestions to make rabbits more worth the trip.
- Raw and Cooked Rabbit
This must have a change, since chickens drop one chicken and one chicken only every single time they are killed by the player, I think it'd be fair if rabbits had a similar drop. There would be an 80% chance for them to drop a raw or cooked rabbit with a 5% increase per looting level. This would make raw rabbit less rare than it already is.
And that's pretty much it, with changes like these it would make rabbit farms worth the effort put. Rabbit meat wouldn't be seen as rare nor will we experience rabbits jumping into lava pits or hopping off of cliffs. Let me know what you think of these changes.

A God that holds you over the pit of Hell, much as one holds a spider or some loathsome insect over the fire, abhors you, and is dreadfully provoked. - Jonathan Edwards
While I would prefer rabbits to go back to how they were in 1.8 but renamed hares I really like this idea, in one wallaby suggestion of mine, I had it drop a wallaby foot, because I barely ever get rabbits feet, so stuff like this would prevent players like me from cheating in a rabbit foot after making rabbits extinct trying to get it.

Well, it's less of a suggestion, more of a plead to Mojang about fixing rabbits. Plus, in 1.9 rabbits have a 10% chance to drop their feet. And 19% with looting III.

Exactly, either of these solutions would work, and there should be a solution.
