So I was thinking that instead of having fixed game modes like Creative and Survival, we should have an option to have custom game modes. For example a game mode where you can fly, take damage and not be able to break blocks. Every time you created a new world you would be able to choose from Creative, Survival, or Hardcore (thank you Kraken__Lord for pointing out that Hardcore isn't technically a gamemode. I'm including it anyway bcuz you can choose it from the create world menu), or Customized. Under customized you would be able to choose things like:
-If flight is allowed
-Whether inventory is unlimited (Creative Inventory) or not
-If players can take damage or not, and if so, from where (mobs, fall damage, lava, etc. but fall damage should probably be disabled if flight is)
-If players can break or place blocks (obviously this would be for if you open your world to LAN)
You could also use commands to change individual players' settings, just like you can now with the fixed gamemodes (/gamemode s EnderStar501)
I think this would be especially useful for things like PvP (Literal Skywars, anyone?), and could open up a lot of new possibilities for minigames and maps.
I came up with this idea when I was dreaming of doing aerial PvP with my friends. Sadly, this was not possible even with the addition of elytra in 1.9, because you can't exactly combat someone with a sword (or bow) while trying not to do a head dive/fall.
Support, but hardcore isn't a gamemode. You should mention adventure and spectator modes instead. I'd love to be a spectator that could interact with the world.

ya k but you can't choose Adventure or Spectator modes from the create world menu (unless u make a debug world and I'm assuming that doesn't count). I get what u mean tho.

Very interesting, definitely allows a more varied access to customize your world. Would also stop those pesky "I want Peaceful Mode but with Hunger" and those kinds of suggestions.
This is a great idea for map makers and builders and even just people who wanna mess around and see what they can do, I think it's a great idea and I definitely think this would fit in Minecraft easily.

I necro-posted on accident since I didn't see the date and the website was like 'YOU'VE BEEN WARNED', apparently trying to leave data for someone else who would come across that form is wrong, but you know, that's just my opinion.
OK...
