Currently, blazes are practically harmless if you drink a fire resistance potion. To prevent this, blaze fireballs should deal 2.5 to 3.5 hearts of damage, depending on the difficulty. The fireball could set you on fire for a shorter period of time to balance this effect.
"Blazes shoot fireballs at the player, dealing 5 () on all difficulty levels. The fireball will set anything it hits on fire, including solid blocks, mobs, and the player, causing an additional 4 () damage."
So yes, they do deal contact damage, but that damage is also nullified when under a fire resistance potion.
"Blaze fireballs do no damage when under the effects of a potion of Fire Resistance."
So, instead of suggesting contact damage, it would be better to suggest letting the base damage still deal damage when under the effects of Fire Resistance. Maybe reduced damage as opposed to complete immunity, as the fireball seems to be made of more than just fire.
You're not all that invincible when fighting Blazes, even with fire resistance, because they still do damage when you touch them. Needless to say, it makes very little of a difference.

Agreed. If Blazes already do damage aside from Fire-based damage, than it should be a decline under the effects of a Fire-Resistance Potions.

I'm almost completely inactive, in case you're trawling through really old threads and notice me somewhere.
According to the wiki, this already happens.
