coding this in a mod won't be that hard. do it or take this down because, it's not that hard to put in a world generation define that world gen then make an ant spawner block with a custom texture.

Excuse me? This is a suggestion for something to be added to the Vanilla game, and you're telling him he should either remove it from the board, or turn it into a mod? That makes no sense. If he wanted it as a mod, he'd have posted it on the Mod Requests board. Also, what if he doesn't know how to code?

I think Ants should be able to walk through Resin fine, like spiders through cobwebs. All of BlackAbsence's suggestions seem good to me, except the one about them avoidding it.

That is true, they do get caught by resin in reality. However, in reality, ants don't automatically run away if you put down something sticky. If they ran from resin, it would create lots of opportunities for ant farms based on collection of ants with resin moving.

- Ants should avoid Resin Blocks, so they don't get stuck in their own home. gameplay>realism. sorry
- Ant Hills should be the entrances for their caves. some ant make hills, some don't. The ants in my area don't really make noticeable hills (or the hills just blow away in the wind). I think simplisity would be fine in this scenario, anthills would look kinda bad in Minecraft imo
- Ants should also climb walls, excluding the Queen, because she's too big. This would make them traverse their caves better. I can dig it.
- The Bane of Arthropods enchantment should work against Ants, because Ants are arthropods. I thought that was in there somewhere......

Sap and such has been known to kill lot of bugs. Ants included.
